Was this just another failed attempt to set up Barry Levinson?

Bruce Whitaker shamefully and cowardly removed Barry Levinson from his long term position on the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Commission without any formal written notice and without any reason given.  Bruce has shown his hand and I believe Dan Hughes once again has too. Was Bruce in on this possible set up of Levinson gone bad with the FPD? Who knows but one thing is for sure, the way Bruce Whitaker handled this issue certainly provided an opportunity for a game of FPD “gotcha” that almost played out when no one was looking on a Monday night while everyone was home watching the ball game.

bruce

This speech by Barry Levinson is probably what got Bruce’s bosses up in arms. We all know that Nelson, Fitzgerald, and Bennett are as tight as a pipe wrench on a busted city water main. We know that Nelson and Bruce have been two peas in a pod for years with Bruce squandering all of the political capital of the recall on firework stands under Nelson’s direction. We all know Bruce has never publicly gone after Fitzgerald’s voting record or her blatant conflict of interest as a lobbyist for Pringle as she holds her next fundraiser at Pringle and associates office but Barry has. Bruce even voted for her to be mayor making it even more difficult to throw her out in November.  Nice going Bruce. We all know Barry Levinson stands up for the residents of Fullerton and has selflessly given of himself for years with NO CONNECTIONS to the establishment and has foiled more of their plans to rip off the taxpayers and ruin Fullerton with the developers than anyone in Fullerton. He has been more effective than anyone up on the dais and they know it.

Barry Levinson

Barry Levinson

Well Barry showed up for the Monday June 13, 2016 Park and Recreation commission meeting for the first time in over 5 years as a citizen instead of a commissioner and sat in the audience. Seated in the audience in the back of the totally empty room in the south aisle were seated not one, not two but three Fullerton Police officers. Yes there were a supervisor and two patrol officers. Why were they there after hours on overtime on  a Monday evening in an empty room?

cops1

Is the supervisor waiting for Barry to make a move so these three can make theirs?

So why were the microphones turned off for the better part of the meeting? The clerk was there typing away and running the computer. Why? What was scheduled to go down?

cops4

Waiting to present information that was never asked for, waiting to answer questions that were never asked or waiting for just another opportunity to set up Barry Levinson?

I believe the plan was to go down like this. Barry was given no formal written notice that he was removed from the commission. The three officers, including a supervisor, were to wait for Barry to take his seat up on the dais, wait for him to be asked to step down, and then upon the slightest inclination of his questioning or refusal, was to be arrested by these three officers. There is no other reason for not one not two but three officers to be there.

DSC00861

Barry and I had discussions prior to this meeting and knew that something was brewing considering how underhanded city officials have acted in the past. Our plan was to continue being citizen activists like we have all along. The meeting went on and the officers were never introduced, called upon for questions or even mentioned.

cops 5

So at the end of the meeting, hours later on a Monday night, I took it upon myself to question this blatant waste of taxpayer resources and ask them personally why they were there, all three of them. As it turns out, Hugo Curiel invited them and I believe it was probably on the orders of Dan Hughes and on behalf of Joe Felz who Hugo repeatedly refers to as “the Boss”. Hugo was obviously very unsettled for most of the meeting, noticeably very uncomfortable and nervous. I believe his demeanor indicated that this was not going to be a normal evening.

hugo

Hugo Curiel and Alice Loya. Ms.Loya was apparently able to see through Travertine walls and  an elevator shaft the night of the attempted framing of Levinson back in 2014.

So why all the cops with a supervisor just to sit in an empty room for hours in silence? Lying in wait to seize the moment for their boss Danny Boy, intimidation or for information? Well these three models of public service had jack shit for information folks. Listen up. Hugo invited them.

So when I asked them why they were there, they told me it had to do with the homeless issue at Pacific Drive Park. Funny not one staffer or commissioner had a question for the three of them who were probably all on overtime. How many officers does it take to answer staff questions? So as a member of the public, I proceeded to ask these officers questions about the issues at the park as they were supposedly there to answer questions about the park. They of course had no information about the park or anything related to crime or problems associated with the park that Felz wants to fence off and take away from the public possibly to sell it off to Grace Ministries along with the Hunt Library.

silva

Commissioner Silva looks on as truth is being told

Yes sell off public property like the Hunt Library behind our backs to fund the out of control pensions and salaries for people like this.

So tell me how many officers does it take to answer questions of present information to a commission on issues regarding homelessness at a park that sat for hours in an empty room after hours that were never mentioned, introduced or called upon?

DSC00861

How many police officers are required to set up and arrest Barry Levinson? Why do we need a supervisor and two patrol officers to sit for hours in a meeting in an empty room and never open their fly traps or answer any questions even when called upon by me after the meeting?

DSC00854

How many officers does it take to set up and arrest Barry Levinson?

DSC00857

How many officers does it take to set up and arrest Barry Levinson?

DSC00860

Why would the FPD’s Dan Hughes want Barry Levinson in jail? How about “the Boss” Joe Felz?

Now you tell me after watching this video how the city council including Bruce Whitaker could have done anything but demand a full investigation into what went down with what appears to be the attempted framing of Barry Levinson. After Bruce delivered this speech, he was never the same man up on the dais, never mentioning this issue again and remaining silent on many serious issues that followed even though he promised Barry and I that he would. Obviously he got a talking to and it worked.

stanford1

Don’t let the flag fool you. Stanford is an empty suit too.

BARRY HAS BEEN CALLING OUT CORRUPTION IN THIS TOWN FOR YEARS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

Dan Hughes told Bruce Whitaker that he “HATES THE GUY” referring to Barry Levinson

Dan Hughes calls Barry Levinson “CRAZY AND UNSTABLE” at a city council meeting

Dan Hughes claims he can be objective while he hates Barry Levinson and personally runs the investigation, personally interviews the witnesses and writes the report himself and personally submits the complaint to the DA for prosecution but he can be objective right?

Barry was a former chairperson and two time appointee to the Fullerton Parks and Recreation commission. He was put there to do his job by Bruce Whitaker over 5 years ago. Here is just another example of Bruce Whitaker’s appointee Barry Levinson doing his job and for months, the person that put him there, Bruce Whitaker, has totally ignored what Barry has brought forward! So what does Barry get for doing his job? He gets fired by the one who holds himself out as a statesman on the council, Bruce Whitaker. Whatever happened to the audit committee Bruce was crying for? Barry repeatedly hands up the goods on a silver platter and gets set up like a bowling pin. City hall needs an enema like nobody’s business folks.

Ladies and gentlemen, like many of you, Barry and I will never rest until this town is cleaned up and you have our word on that.

Watch who you vote for in November and watch your backs with the FPD-anyone could be next. That is why you will see my name on the Ballot and I won’t take a dime or an endorsement from any of the establishment thugs that are still trying to ruin this town for their own selfish gain and political ambition. Fullerton is worth fighting for because it is our town folks. Lets make sure they never forget that. It is our town, yours and mine. Stay vigilant Fullerton.

After reading this, it can be concluded that Whitaker, unfortunately, is part of the Bennett, Nelson & Fitzgerald team and wants Mr. Levinson out of the way, no matter the cost.

What’s going on, here? Are they all working together to sell off Fullerton, piece by piece, even Whitaker?

“We all know that Nelson, Fitzgerald, and Bennett are as tight as a pipe wrench on a busted city water main.”

How do we know that Nelson is part of this?

    What’s in it for him?

OC Supervisor Shawn Nelson (R) endorses Jennifer Fitzgerald (R) every chance he gets, for the same reason that they all endorse each other…

      http://www.smartvoter.org/2012/11/06/ca/or/vote/fitzgerald_j/endorse.html

…you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours and we’ll ALL get rich… except for the residents whose money it is that we’re taking to benefit only those who pay to get us elected!

p.s. I think that it’s interesting that Jennifer Fitzgerald chose not to include her selection for Fullerton Planning Commissioner, Larry Bennett. Could that be due to Larry Bennett heading up the Anti-Recall effort the same year that Jennifer was elected?

      • #4 by Fullerton Lover on July 9, 2016 - 9:53 am

This is a recent article about a citizen activist in Irvine who was mocked and demonized and called crazy for years for believing that the city of Irvine was spraying pesticides throughout the city parks and the school playgrounds that were causing cancer…

…until they all found out that she was right and the city council just voted to stop spraying throughout the city!

        http://www.ocweekly.com/news/how-irvine-became-socals-first-non-toxic-city-7317638

My question for the Fullerton Parks and Recreation department is, does this type of pesticide spraying ever occur throughout Fullerton city parks and/or the Fullerton school playgrounds?

    • #6 by Fullerton Lover on June 16, 2016 - 10:48 am

I have completely lost ALL respect for Bruce Whitaker.

You should be ashamed of yourself for hanging your friend out to dry, and setting him up like a bowling pin.

      Your political career is toast.

        • #8 by Fullerton Lover on June 16, 2016 - 10:08 pm

Although I don’t know Barry personally, I actually admire the guy because I like the fact that he’s consistently taken the high road and NEVER the easiest road.

I realize that Barry’s focused on issue can be like that of a Barracuda, however some times you have to be focused in order to hold politician’s feet to the fire in order get an honest answer.

Never a popular role, yet entirely necessary if the people of Fullerton want an honest government that is going to represent the residents instead of the outside interest looking to make a quick buck and care nothing about the residents already here in Fullerton.

          Godspeed Mr. Levinson!

I was actually there at the city council meeting that night, and can tell you unequivocally that no such thing ever happened, and Mr. Levinson’s simple conversation with the lobbyist was completely overblown to sound like a vicious attack for political expediency of removing the obstacle that stood in the way of allowing the cell tower to be placed at Richman Park, which is actually the most used park by children in a low income neighborhood.

Anyone that says different is a bold faced liar.

              • #11 by Barry Levinson on June 22, 2016 - 5:15 pm

Although the cell tower at Richman Park was passed by the City Council, AT&T never executed the contract with the city. We saved the children from that EMF exposure at that site.

                • #12 by Anonymous on June 23, 2016 - 8:10 am

You didn’t save the children from anything, moron.

                  Awesome Barry!

Children playing in the one park in a high density area deserve to be left alone and not have their only solace in this world bombarded by EMF in order to pay the city of Fullerton’s bills.

                • #15 by Barry Levinson on June 23, 2016 - 2:18 pm

The fact that the Richman Park is right next to the Richman Elementary School makes our stopping the cell towers from being placed here doubly important. It is not my immediate neighborhood school but it is a school in my town of Fullerton with hundreds of children, dozens of teachers and other school personnel. That makes it important to me. It is a safer place for our efforts and I am proud to have been a part of that effort.

Caring and looking out for your fellow human beings should always be a concern for all of us. Any person with any knowledge of world history would agree that having more people caring about others in this world would have stopped a lot of hate and a lot of murders throughout history.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to acknowledge that the vast majority of our appointed and elected government leaders here in Fullerton seem to care the least about us. That Fullertonians is a real shame. However, it should not deter all of us to strive to make our city a better place to live, work and to get an education. I continue not only to believe but to know there are many good and decent people living here in Fullerton. We deserve better and we need to stand up and demand better from our Fullerton City Government.

  4. #20 by Telling It Like It Is on June 16, 2016 - 9:54 am

The Fullerton City Government is run as a criminal enterprise. It is that bad Fullertonians. We need to totally clean house and then disinfect City Hall. City Manager Joe Felz and Police Chief Dan Hughes are thugs. They have conducted themselves as ordinary criminals with the extraordinary power of Fullerton City Government behind them. Dangerous, dangerous, dangerous!!! EVIL, EVIL, EVIL!!!!

The only difference that I see in the campaign contributions between Jennifer Fitzgerald and Bruce Whitaker, is that Bruce had the deep pockets of Tony and George Bushala to draw from.

I wonder how much the two of them stand to profit from the selling off of Fullerton by the Repuglican’s representatives like Bruce Whitaker, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Greg Sebourn, and OC Supervisor Shawn “Spawn” Nelson, especially if they manage to get the high speed rail built to go through Fullerton by pulling the OCTA strings that Shawn Nelson currently controls?

It’s all not surprising at all. You have Barry who no one can stand seeing around city hall or council meetings. He says all city leaders and workers and cops and firemen are garbage and they all do a terrible job all the time. Not once has he commended one thing anyone has done. Put yourself in their positions. Would you want this plague around your meetings all the time? I think Bruce finally realized how off his rocker Barry is and knew he had to make a move. There are Barry types in all cities and all meetings. They are just part of the landscape. But as we know, what people like Barry say goes in one ear and out the other. Most people don’t even know what Barry says anymore. Good move Bruce. I knew what team Bruce was on long ago. Team Bushala now missed the bus with his $500,000 with both Bruce and Squirk-Silva but Squirky just had to buy the transients socks!

That is a completely false and defamatory statement and a total a lie. Mr. Levinson has never been arrested for anything in his entire life. Mr. Levinson is an upstanding member of this community with impeccable character, wisdom, integrity and courage. If RI was using his or her real name on here, Mr. Levinson would have a completely open and shut defamation case against this individual.

LOL he is listed as a suspect in a crime report. That’s public information. Just because the case wasn’t filed doesn’t make him not a suspect. He knows he was guilty. Pull the report. I just did and he’s still a suspect. Always will be. Ask Bushala about defamation lawsuits and having to shut down web pages due to false statements.

Aside from the FPD creeps with their fetish for Levinson and their overt corruption, the most damning part of this story has to be the link to the article on how Whitaker actually passed the baton to Fitzgerald for mayor. That puts her on the ballot as Mayor which barring a disaster, virtually guarantees her re election. If that doesn’t tell you Bruce is bought off, nothing will convince you.

  7. #40 by Ashamed Fullerton Resident on June 16, 2016 - 10:34 pm

Thanks in part to Mr. Imbriano and Mr. Levinson, we now know that Bruce Whitaker is just another phony politician following orders from other phony and corrupt politicians. In so doing, he just committed political suicide.
How can he ignore huge problems in city government raised over and over by Mr. Levinson and say that he is representing the people of Fullerton? If he ever refers to himself ever again as a statesman, he should be laughed off the dais.
He set in motion the opportunity for the FPD to order 3 police officers to an almost totally empty council chamber for obviously nefarious reasons. This is much more than dirty politics. It is criminal behavior by those in power in Fullerton. Yes it certainly appears that our Police Chief still hates that guy named Mr. Levinson and is corrupt and dishonest enough to do anything underhanded to hurt Mr. Levinson. Police Chief Hughes and City Manager Felz and all their willing helpers need to be brought up on criminal conspiracy charges.

As far as Mr. Whitaker is concerned, I do not think he will recover from the mess he has made for himself. Furthermore, the people of Fullerton should never forget that he threw an honest, hard working appointee under the bus.

I am a firm believer that what goes around comes around or to put it another way…you will reap what you sow.

All the Emperors….Shawn Nelson, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Larry Bennett, Dan Hughes, Joe Felz and Bruce Whitaker have no clothes and unfortunately have no integrity or honesty either.

Mr. Whitaker has lost all credibility and he is the one who should be stepping down from the council.

No one should be fired for doing their job well and telling the truth.

          • #45 by Fullerton Lover on June 18, 2016 - 9:41 am

Just take a look around the south side of Fullerton, hundreds of new built homes stacked on top of each other, as well the additional traffic congestion that comes with them, roads so poor that you can’t go faster than 35 miles an hour on them without blowing out a tires, alignment, and your suspension, and parks which are largely ignored or locked up altogether because they’re still too toxic, libraries that close over night because the police can’t keep the surrounding area safe for children to visit the library, drunks from downtown spilling into the nearby bedroom communities, where they actually have driven into residents houses and killed occupants, knifing and sexually assaults and DUI’s are all so commonplace downtown now, that they rarely make the news, and knowing that our downtown area used to actually be “dry” at one time and was quite civil without the alcohol being poured down a bunch of gullible and impressionable college age kids, , and then ask yourself if you were raising your children in Fullerton, would you really want to leave them with the shit hole that Fullerton has become in the last few years?

            • #46 by Reality Is..... on June 18, 2016 - 4:05 pm

Oh man. Look around So Cal. Visit Santa Ana sometime. What you describe has nothing to do with just Fullerton. Homeless problem has no answers anymore. We the voters voted in Prop 47 and that is the final straw in breaking California’s back. No more punishments. No more jail time. No more sobriety. We reap what we sow. LOL love blaming the police though. What do you expect the police to do? We changed the laws so now the cops at the most, can just issue tickets. Public property is just that. Homeless, transients, drunks. addicts, can all hang out all they want now. Every city the same. So yea, you can try to blame that on Brucey but that has nothing to do with Bruce. If you want to start change in this state, you need to get Prop 47 overturned. Without that, we are stuck dealing with the increasing homeless and transient problem across this state that is increasing by the day.

              • #47 by Fullerton Lover on June 18, 2016 - 6:20 pm

Bruce and Travis used to think alike. Bruce saw what being anti public safety got Travis. A swift kick in the ass quickly. Bruce doesn’t want to be like Travis. Or like Tony B. So the best way to not be like Travis and Tony B, was to kick Barry out the door. Winning.

Didn’t you ever wonder why this “John Wilson Phelps” would give city councilwoman Jan Flory $10,000 to get elected to the city council in 2012, and then only give $500 to Jennifer Fitzgerald, as well as bankroll the three city councilman who were recalled in 2012?

        Details to follow…

Please tell us why so I don’t have to research it. Giving $500 to each candidate is a normal move. Some people like to support politics and don’t want to endorse a candidate so they just contribute to them all. I know that’s common in public safety unions and politics now. That way they support them all equally which keeps them in good graces no matter what after the election. Back in the old days they would endorse someone, and then have a strained relationship with someone that pulled off an odd win.

You people crack me up with all your absurd conspiracy theories, Want to know why Bruce dumped Barry Levinson?
Because Barry Levinson is a pompous, arrogant, self-aggrandizing, disingenuous, childish narcissistic bully. Period!

It is now crystal clear why the City of Fullerton has been and continues to be so poorly and corruptly run.

When everyone in power works together to subvert the truth and the will of the people you get the city government of Fullerton.

The arrogance of Mayor Fitzgerald to hold her minimum $2,500 a ticket fundraiser at her conflict of interest headquarters of her boss Curt Pringle and Associates proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the contempt she has for regular Fullertonians. Every time she utters the words Love Fullerton, realize that the only thing she loves is power, money and herself.

The fact that Bruce Whitaker voted to make her Mayor of Fullerton is disgusting and revolting. It tells you all you need to know about the real Bruce Whitaker. Go along to get along Bruce on voting to appoint Fitzgerald as Mayor, to vote for a developers dream Districting Map 8A, to totally ignore a 4 to 5 million dollar problem with the American Golf Corporation arrangement to run the Fullerton Golf Course brought to his and the council’s attention by none other than his own “former” appointee, Barry Levinson. Finally, to ignore the several public comment pleas to open a Gennaco audit investigation into the apparent criminal conspiracy surrounding the bogus Levinson allegations. No Mr. Whitaker on all these crucial issues was on the same side as Fitzgerald, Flory, Chaffee, Felz and Sebourn.

Finally, the idea of districts was to in part provide for local control. Yet Map 8A was the only map that destroys the Fullerton downtown community by breaking it up into not 2 or 3 or even 4 districts but into 5 districts. This unanimous 5 to 0 vote by our council merits their removal from council.

The city council meetings of Fullerton is no more than a fictional stage with phony representatives thinking and acting that they are entitled to mislead and sometimes even lie with impunity.

  10. #57 by Ashamed Fullerton Resident on June 17, 2016 - 12:15 pm

Wow the audacity of Bruce Whitaker to have this quote as the heading on his Facebook Page.

“Words may lie, but actions will always tell the truth.”

Indeed both your actions and lack thereof has told the true story of politician Bruce Whitaker.

  11. #58 by Telling It Like It Is on June 17, 2016 - 12:33 pm

I was waiting for someone to crawl out of the gutter to spew their baseless, childish rants.

The city establishment is getting extremely worried. Why do you think even before the candidates can draw papers to run for council that Mayor Fitzgerald is asking for all her lobbyist and special interest friends to pony up $2,500? Mayor Fitzgerald you are going to need every single penny of that war chest.

  12. #59 by Anonymous on June 17, 2016 - 2:31 pm

Congratulations to Police Chief Dan Hughes and the FPD for once again acting like the thugs and criminals they are supposed to protect us from. He once again demonstrated to the public by his own actions that he will waste thousands of taxpayer dollars and go to any extreme to railroad his perceived political enemies. What a Sxxk Bxstxxd.

Question: Who is going to protect us from Dan Hughes? Certainly not our city council or our city manager. No they are obviously now all on the same crooked page.

    • #60 by Reality Is..... on June 18, 2016 - 8:45 am

Dan Hughes. He’s so mean LOL. He’s retiring next year so you won’t have to deal with him anymore. But you will have to deal with the people he trained. And they enforce laws with as many cops and the same way all cops in So Cal do. Scared? Laws are laws. If they send 1 cop or 100 cops to get you, it’s all the same. Barry and that long haired nutball so called journalist can all be dangerous. Don’t take the risk. Bring 100 cops and go home safe, just like journal boy did and just like Barry did.

  13. #61 by Reality Is..... on June 17, 2016 - 4:15 pm

LOL damn I missed that you posted something new! Love it!

I think you answered all of your own questions.

3 cops. LOL. Makes sense. Cops don’t roll around alone. You know that. Due to the antics of Barry they would want a supervisor on scene also. So there is your answer. 2 cops together and a supervisor. Any call that has the potential for something political happening or anything else, they send a supervisor.

Since you made the claim, now back it up. You claim all 3 were on overtime. Now prove that claim. Like most things, I”m sure you were just spouting your mouth again with no fact or substance.

Oh man. I wish they would have been able to arrest Barry LOL. I thought Bruce was the new generation and part of the new era that Tony B bought into office? One of the team? What happened? He realized that whacky people can’t run a city so he’s on the good side now?

I wish I would have know that was going down. I would have come to the meeting to watch. Poor Barry. Did you really think they were going to keep you around? I mean really? I know you also really aren’t surprised they had cops there in case you acted up either. I would have sent 5 cops.

    🙂

Fullerton got fireworks and nothing else because Bruce Whitaker listened to Shawn Nelson. That is hilarious. Bruce Whitaker is clearly now on the dark side of Fullerton politics. I can’t count the number of times both at city council or in his articles where Mr. Levinson consistently defended and supported Mr. Whitaker for years and now for all his efforts and support he gets fired. Mr. Whitaker’s reputation has just taken a big dip downward. I thought Mr. Whitaker wanted an audit committee yet when Mr. Levinson who I believe is an auditor by profession hands him his audit results he ignores them. Boy if that does not prove you are a phony, hypocritical politician Council member Whitaker, nothing does.

    • #63 by Reality Is..... on June 17, 2016 - 10:47 pm

will be fun to watch. Bruce was like Hillary Clinton from the start. He would say whatever the right people wanted to hear. That bought Tony Bushala off quick, and then Bruce told Tony to F off. Travis thought Bruce was his homie, then when tRavis opened his mouth bashing public safety, Travi’s political career was instantly over. Bruce moved on. Bruce is your standard politician. Active but not over bearing. I’m shocked he made a big move like canning Barry. He must have known people don’t like Barry and had to get him out if he has any chance at being reelected.

  15. #64 by Betrayal defined on June 18, 2016 - 11:58 am

“He must have known people don’t like Barry…”

Those people being Mayor Jennifer Fitzgerald, Commissioner Larry Bennett, OC Supervisor Shawn Nelson, City Manager Joe Felz and Police Chief Dan Hughes.

Bruce Whitaker was just following orders.
Is that what you would call a leader? No
Is that what you would call a statesman? No
Is that someone exhibiting courage? Of course not.

It is what you would call a phony politician who would betray the people of Fullerton and an honest hard working committee member named Barry Levinson for the most despicable reasons.

Telling the truth at Fullerton City Hall is a very dangerous thing to do and Bruce Whitaker just proved it again by going after the messenger of truth while protecting the guilty.

On November 4, 2014 council meeting you warned the FPD and Dan Hughes that it was wrong to go after people such as Mr. Levinson for the express purpose to shut down honest dissent at city hall.

Question: Then why did you fire Mr. Levinson for the exact same reason a year and one half later? Once again actions speak so much louder than words Mr. Whitaker. That you have just done what you warned others not to do back in November 2014 shows that you are now completely untrustworthy and not fit to represent us here in Fullerton or anywhere else for that matter.

Tell Bruce Whitaker that we no longer trust him.
Tell Bruce Whitaker that we no longer can afford to have him on the city council.
Tell Bruce Whitaker to take a hike.

    • #65 by Reality Is..... on June 18, 2016 - 4:07 pm

The people will decide that. Not you. You might be right but the people will either prove you wrong, or prove that Bruce is the best Fullerton has and vote him back in to keep doing what he has been doing for years.

  16. #66 by Anonymous on June 19, 2016 - 4:25 pm

If you like having 80 plus percent of our tax dollars spent on employee salaries and benefit?. If you like that after the employees get the lion’s share, we the taxpayers are still on the hook for hundreds of millions more in unfunded pension and retiree health care? If you like all this with the worst roads in California? If you like our corrupt police department whose police chief is obsessed with his political adversaries? If you like a city council and city manager doing the bidding of every connected developer to turn our beloved community into downtown LA?

If you like all this vote for all the incumbents this November.

But if you are tired of getting the shaft from your representatives vote every one of those self-centered, phony, narcissistic council members out of office.

    • #68 by Reality Is.. on June 19, 2016 - 5:26 pm

So you as a potential candidate are going to take away the current pay and benefits of city employees? Do clarify. Would love to hear about this master plan. Looking forward to how you will accomplish this too.

Maybe Joe should use your plan as his platform as he runs for his council seat too.

I think it’s comical that you didn’t deny one iota of anonymous’
post about the 80 percent of the Fullerton city budget going to feed the city employees, with little else left for things like parks and libraries for our children, only that you get defensive about the bloated salaries of those already feeding off the public teat…should we all feign surprise?

p.s. this is just the FIRST page of nineteen other pages of bloated salaries…the pensions are even worse!

I support those salaries and benefits. They are consistent statewide and well deserved. They aren’t close to bloated. They are all actually underpaid and under compensated, just like everyone always said 10-30 years ago. Still true. I hope they all get 2% raises each year, especially police and fire. $100k a year is peanuts in 2016.

You just can’t make this stuff up about our Mayor, Jennifer Fitzgerald, who is a BIOLA (Bible Institute of Los Angeles) graduate with a minor in biblical studies, running cover for a one hit wonder, whose bar happens to attract the sleaziest women around…

So as a councilperson you can’t support a bar in your city because of your religious beliefs? Really? Wow. Thank God you aren’t going to be a councilperson. I would expect a councilperson to support all legal businesses in my City no matter what my religion or beliefs. I suppose you expect her to support gay bars though right?

  17. #76 by interrignum on June 20, 2016 - 9:41 am

Bruce is an empty suit on the strings of Bushala and Nelson. Bruce is just following orders. Levinson is a troublemaker. Can’t have a loose cannon with too much information sniffing around the basement at City Hall. That is why this will be the second time they tried to frame him.

    • #77 by Reality Is..... on June 21, 2016 - 10:08 am

Bruce changed over the years though. He was always Tony Bushala’s little B**tch but he’s a pure politician now.

Yes, Levinson is no good. Anyone like Barry or joe that feel city workers never do anything good is terrible for city politics. Middle ground is ok but to think before you even step foot on the dais that they are all terrible, never do anything good, are over paid and compensated no matter what the amount, that’s just a bad combination and should never even be considered. I’m hoping the voters see that and make their message clear.

  18. #78 by Telling it Like It Is on June 21, 2016 - 1:54 pm

Once again Reality Is thinks if he repeats the same lies over and over again, people might believe him. What is no good for Fullerton or any community is someone dedicated like Reality Is to deception, lies and more lies. There are many good people living and working in Fullerton including at city hall. However, those in charge are so, so corrupt and dishonest. They would not know the truth if it bit them in the rear.

    • #79 by Reality Is.. on June 21, 2016 - 5:36 pm

Keep trying to fool yourself. Weak attempt at giving a hard working city worker an atta boy. Weak. Again, anyone with that thought process will never lead a city. Ever.

      • #80 by Fullerton Lover on June 23, 2016 - 9:16 am

Fact is that the average city worker in Orange County in 2015 is making $145,000 per year!

        Who’s fooling who?

Talk about a weak attempt/weak sauce!

        • #81 by Reality Is..... on June 23, 2016 - 11:11 am

Nice attempt at making something look bigger than it is. You do that with your unit too? LOL

$145k with 41% being benefits and overtime, etc. Ok so that sounds reasonable. Like I said, under 100k in 2016 is peanuts.

I have no issue with this report at all. Overtime shouldn’t ever even be considered in a wage analysis anyways because that’s extra work for extra pay and usually not voluntary.

I’m sure the LA County wage and benefit comparison is similar.

I’m waiting for the Fullerton city employees chart for the past 10 years for wages and benefits. So that I can see how out of line that 2% raise was LOL

Let’s all predict where Imbriano finishes in the city council race. Let’s assume there are 10 candidates.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he comes in ninth. But if Chaffee’s brother runs again, he’ll drop to 10th.
If he raises $100, I’d be surprised.

  22. #94 by Anonymous on June 25, 2016 - 12:45 pm

Let me be absolutely clear. What we have in Fullerton goes way beyond dirty politics. We have a criminal enterprise lead by City Manager Joe Felz, Mayor Jennifer Fitzgerald and Police Chief Dan Hughes. The fact that they all are not under county, state-wide and/or federal investigation, only demonstrates how far our government has sunk at all levels.

  23. #100 by Fullerton's Objective Police Chief Dan Hughes on June 25, 2016 - 4:56 pm

Why did Police Chief Dan Hughes send 1 supervisor and 2 other police officers to sit in an empty chamber during the last Park and Recreation meeting?

To quote Dan Hughes…I can be objective. Sure Dan and if anyone believes that BS then I guess you could also believe that Adolf Hitler could be fair and objective to the Jews and the KKK can be fair and objective to African Americans and of course Ramos, Wolfe and Cincinelli were fair and objective to Kelly Thomas. What a horrific track record you have in this town sir!

    • #101 by Anonymous on June 25, 2016 - 7:12 pm

Dan Hughes has the respect and trust only of those who have never had the experience of actually needing to be able to trust that he respects anyone. You will see.

    • #102 by Reality Is.. on June 26, 2016 - 7:37 am

That’s what is sent on all calls. With someone like Barry about to blow his lid, I would have sent 3 supervisors and 9 officers.

      🙂

  24. #103 by Fullerton Lover on June 26, 2016 - 9:42 am

    Barry Levinson’s a pussy cat.

The one’s that you REALLY need to watch are people like Joe Felz, “Danny” Hughes, Larry Bennett, Doug Chaffee, Jan Flory, and Jennifer Fitzgerald.

These people are all ripping off your future’s, and your children’s futures, all while smiling and grinning in your face when they see you on Sunday morning at church, while they rob you all completely blind the rest of the week.

    • #104 by Anonymous on June 26, 2016 - 11:59 am

      Ripping off our future’s what?

      • #105 by Fullerton Lover on June 26, 2016 - 5:32 pm

It’s probably more beneficial if you were to review these city budgets for yourself.

        https://www.cityoffullerton.com/gov/departments/admin_serv/city_budget/default.asp

Fullerton residents seem to be blinded by their faith in these hypocrites, and truly believe that these people are leading them to the promised land instead of the road to ruin.

        Only time will tell huh?

      • #106 by Fullerton Lover on June 26, 2016 - 9:23 pm

Take a gander at the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the Police and Fire Department unions have poured into these candidates such as Flory, Bennett, and Chaffee that have been city councilman here in Fullerton over the last five years to achieve the bloated salaries and early retirement packages for the public safety unions that have support these same candidates.

        http://docs.cityoffullerton.com/weblink/Browse.aspx?dbid=1

        http://docs.cityoffullerton.com/weblink/Browse.aspx?dbid=1

…then I invite you the Fullerton resident to peer into the thought process of what those unions expect to get for their political donations…

        http://www.fullertonsfuture.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/The-Value-of-Political-Involvement.pdf

…than ask yourself if you haven’t been played for fools by the public safety unions that absorb the lion’s share of the city budget, while the parks and libraries that the children of Fullerton rely on, have to actually beg the Fullerton police in this month’s issue of the Fullerton Observer, to do a better job of policing Richman Park… even though the park is located less than a block from the Fullerton Police department headquarters!

    • #107 by Reality Is.. on June 27, 2016 - 9:43 am

That’s your opinion. I look at it as Fullerton employees and leaders are making less in pay and benefits than most OC and LA County cities. So fair is fair. What all of Fullerton makes is by far fair and consistent. So I have no issue with it. No matter who comes into leadership won’t take that pay and benefits away.

      • #108 by Fullerton Lover on June 27, 2016 - 5:23 pm

At least my “opinion” is grounded on a factual basis, as opposed to the groundless suppositions that you consistently retort with.

Article from the latest issue of the Fullerton Observer….

        Richman Park

Why has the city allowed Richman Park
to get so bad? The park is closed at sundown
yet there are homeless people sleeping
there on tables and benches all night,
every night. They make a lot of noise and
drink and smoke all night. There are
always shopping carts all over the park full
        of junk these people collect.
The gangsters are there a lot also. They
tag the walls of the restrooms and garages
        of surrounding homes.
A lot of people living around the park
have to go to work each morning and
have to listen to the noise all night from
the people fighting and partying in the
        park.
There is a motor home that parks there
all day and night with 4 little girls and
their mom living in it. That can’t be good
        for them.
I’m afraid to go there, even in daylight.
I would never take my kids there. We
never see any police enforcing the laws.
Are they afraid or just don’t want to be
        bothered with the mess?
Something must be done. Thanks for
        listening.

        • #109 by Reality Is.. on June 27, 2016 - 8:48 pm

LOL your response to my statement about the pay and benefits in Fullerton being fair is one call to a park that has a transient problem? You know transients problems are rampant statewide right now and no one has any answers to it at all?

I’m still laughing at your response to pay and benefits.

If the cops go kick all those people out at dusk each day, where do you think they will go? Into the neighborhoods and businesses. The better of two evils?

          • #110 by Fullerton Lover on June 28, 2016 - 9:19 am

Pay and benefits are earned through meritorious conduct and not by conspiring with spineless politicians like Flory, Fitzgerald, Bennett, and Chaffee.

If the Fullerton police department can’t even keep a park safe for children that’s less than a couple blocks away from their own headquarters, that’s actually laughable…just pathetic that the laughs come at the expense of children who have been robbed their only place to play together outside of school.

            • #111 by Reality Is.. on June 28, 2016 - 3:07 pm

Show stats that the children aren’t safe? Go ahead. I’m sure it will be one random post from someone right? Not that I would bring my children to many big parks in California anymore due to the transient problem but it doesn’t mean the kids aren’t safe.

I guess some did not listen to the video with the police above at the Park and Recreation Committee meeting when one said they were there to answer questions about the homeless.

Funny they were never introduced to answer questions about he homeless.
Funny they never got up to speak about the homeless.
Lastly, when the police supervisor was asked a simple basic question about the homeless problem he answered that he did not know anything about the topic he was supposedly there with two other officers to speak about. He also said that he did not work in the field at all.

So were they there to answer imaginary questions about a topic, which the supervisor admitted he knew nothing about or were they there following the orders of Dan Hughes waiting to pounce on an honest outspoken citizen who is deemed a political threat/liability to our objective, non-political police chief and his crony fellow council members and city manager. (Notice the officers were seated right on the aisle.) This city is truly run like a criminal operation and the council can have all the feel good presentations they like but it will never cover up the stench of their continuing dirty and sometimes illegal dealings.

Please remember Fullertonians that it was none other than Council member Bruce Whitaker who put this all in motion. Actions do speak louder than words Mr. Whitaker. The veil of deceit/phoniness after almost 6 years as council member has now been lifted for all to see the real you. The consummate politician who threw a friend under the bus for doing the job and pointing out the specific problems with this council and city government that you refuse to do.
I suggest that it would be better for you to not run again rather than face a humiliating defeat in November. For more and more people have come to realize that they have made a huge mistake supporting you. Thanks for exposing yourself to the good people of Fullerton.

  26. #120 by Fullerton Voter on June 27, 2016 - 12:32 pm

Let us put the City of Fullerton aside for a moment.

Does anyone with integrity and honesty, remove a two time appointed committee member who has served faithfully for five plus years (never missing a Park and Recreation Committee meeting) without offering him any explanation? Worse Mr Whitaker never gave Mr. Levinson any warning or indication that he was unhappy in any way with his Park and Recreation performance.

Unfortunately, Council member Whitaker’s actions are not those of a council member with integrity and moral character. It is the actions of a compromised politician getting heat from other politicians that the truth Mr. Levinson continues to provide about our city government was impacting their sordid plans.

It is obvious that Mr. Whitaker actions were based on the light Mr. Levinson was shining brightly on the crooked and crony capitalism world of Fullerton City Government. That Fullertonians is why he was removed by Mr. Whitaker.

Council member Whitaker’s actions can only be explained in a negative way. There is no defense for his actions. Therefore it is clear that we the people of Fullerton need to remove Council member Whitaker from office come November.

Lover. You have a very biased view of things. Take off your shades glasses for a little while. Barry is a very passionate person. But he is very biased. Nothing he learns or they anyone tells him is going to change his opinion of anything. Ever. He says he has family that was cops so he must like cops. Wrong. He hates public employees and he hates city workers and city leaders. How can someone with that view hold a position of trust, like he had, and make unbiased, open decisions? He can’t. If you say he can you are wearing your shaded glassss again. That’s why he had to go. No one should hold any position of trust with the strong beliefs that people like him and Joe have. They are bad for the people and bad for government. So that’s why Barry had to go. It was time. Yes in the beginning he appeared to be passionate but unbiased and to have the best interests of the people in mind. When it was found what his true colors were there was no choice but to send him packing.

      Love,

Mr. Levinson was fired because he was bad for the phony and corrupt people running the City of Fullerton including Council member Bruce Whitaker, period. If you notice all the negative comments about Mr. Levinson are always baseless character assassination. The lack of facts or any evidence to the contrary leads me to believe that we should post the definitions of the words, “facts” and “evidence” for clearly they are not familiar with either term.

    • #123 by Reality Is.. on June 27, 2016 - 8:49 pm

Not true. Barry has a closed mind and a set agenda. Terrible for city leadership and politics. His heart is gold but other than that, he needs to stick to his own issues.

      • #124 by Ashamed Fullerton Resident on June 28, 2016 - 10:20 am

Mr. Levinson was and still is an impediment to the crooked, crony capital plans of Mayor Fitzgerald and City Manager Joe Felz. That is why the original far reaching Downtown Core and Corridor Specific Plan has not been adopted. That is why the Summit House did not receive an additional 20 years on it lease going to 2060 at very favorable rates for the restaurant. There are many more examples of Mr. Levinson’s effectiveness. Reality Is says Fullerton Voter’s statement that the negative comments about Mr. Levinson are always baseless character assassinations is “Not true”. Then he conveniently does not provide one scintilla of facts to support his defamation. Thank you Reality Is for proving Fullerton Voter to be correct. and making it extremely obvious what a phony lying piece of garbage you are Reality Is. 29. #131 by Fullerton Voter on June 28, 2016 - 3:13 pm

I have never seen so much attention from a very, very few from the City of Fullerton Government phony establishment trying so very hard but failing to discredit Mr. Levinson, who they continually state has no support or impact on this city.

Question? Why so much attention 24/7 to someone who is according to them powerless, does not know what he is talking about and has no influence within Fullerton?

To the contrary I seem to recall that Mr. Levinson finished second to Doug Chaffee in the recall race and received over $7,500 votes in the November 2102 election. Thousands of people even four years ago obviously thought Mr. Levinson made a lot of sense. I suspect that number has increased by many thousands today.

Could that the reason and only reason for these very few miscreants to be spending so very much time and energy continually spewing their character assassination BS? I think I am on to something here.

Levinson finished second to Chaffee in the recall because Tony Bushala poured over $500K into the recall. And of the three candidates Tony supported with money, Levinson is the only one who didn’t win a seat. That speaks volumes. Basically, Levinson couldn’t hit water if he fell out if a boat.

  30. #139 by Anonymous on June 29, 2016 - 5:16 pm

If you look at the public records you will see that Mr. Levinson used his own money primarily in his several runs for a council seat and not payola from the unions and developers like so many current and former council members.

    • #140 by Reality Is.. on June 29, 2016 - 8:35 pm

Dense housing, shoddy and unsightly commercial development is strangling the once beautiful, serene and idyllic enclaves that made Fullerton Fullerton. Our children are placed at risk by a growing population of registered sex offenders, the mentally ill, the homeless, and organized crime that finds Fullerton citizens easy pickins due to an all but laughable Fullerton PD that is walking on egg shells while collecting Union-City mandated annual raises – all the while our other public service/utility workers haven’t had raises in nearly a decade because of the inappropriate siphoning of funds directed towards the public safety work force swollen and required budgetary wheeling and dealings ratified by our corrupt City Council. It took years to eventually uncover, indict and convict the City of Bell members who engaged in similar backroom dealings. Certain press and media are hard at work.

He just reinforces day in and day out what a good job the leaders of Fullerton are doing.

He would rather have vacant fields and run down buildings than improvements in the city.

Jennifer Fitzgerald and Bruce Whitaker Have A Lot In Common

Both voted for Redistricting Map 8A better known as the developers’ map, which conveniently for the developers greatly diminishes the vote for those living in and around downtown Fullerton.

Whitaker supported and voted for Fitzgerald for Mayor. I guess he is perfectly okay with her conflict of interest. I guess he is perfectly okay that she continues to refuse to disclose her client list.

Whitaker sat idly by as Fitzgerald and Felz put a 2 decade lease extension for the Summit House Restaurant (on City of Fullerton parkland) with the same terms thru the year 2060 on the Consent Calendar at City Council. As soon as Mr. Levinson spoke out against this travesty of crony capitalism, the brazen attempt to deceive the public was pulled and has not been brought forward since then.

Question: If the lease extension was just a mere formality (as should be any item that is placed on the Consent Agenda), why has city hall decided to shelve it once it got exposed?

Does any honest elected official remove a two term appointee (who has served 5 and one half years without missing one committee meeting), without even a hint that they were not happy with their performance, without any warning or any reason for “statesman” Bruce Whitaker’s actions?

Whitaker who is supposed to be concerned with how the city spends our tax dollars has not even once questioned the apparent conflict of interest of Mayor Fitzgerald as Vice President of Curt Pringle and Associates. Why?

Whitaker never asked one question at city council or as reported on these pages to his own appointee, Mr. Levinson who provided him with detailed supported analysis that the city took actions which will cost the taxpayers 4 to 5 million dollars over 20 years. COUNCIL MEMBER WHITAKER CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR COMPLETE SILENCE?

At the same time you laughingly have asked for an audit committee to be created here in Fullerton.

I along with many Fullertonians want you to know that for all the above reasons and many more, you have now been completely exposed as a phony and a hypocrite.

One last thing that both Mayor Fitzgerald and Council member Whitaker have in common. They both greatly deserve to be voted out of office come November.

    • #153 by Joe Imbriano on July 12, 2016 - 12:01 pm

Bruce never even mentioned the Summit house scam to his Park and Recreation commission appointee Barry Levinson as it almost went through bypassing The Park and Recreation Commission. Was Bruce in on this? How could he have not alerted his appointee to such a dirty deal? Why did Barry find out about this issue only after sitting in the back row with me at a council meeting as this scam was being rammed through as a consent item? The fact that Bruce left his appointee in the dark on this one makes me agree with the previous comment.

  35. #154 by Ashamed Fullerton Resident on July 12, 2016 - 2:59 pm

Regardless of your political persuasion, every decent Fullertonian should be outraged that our Police Chief uses his officers for his vindictive, political reasons. This is the same police chief who at every opportunity tells us that he is very much undermanned. If you are undermanned how do you have three officers including a supervisor available to sit in an empty city hall auditorium for hours. The same Police Chief who sent 6 officers to Pasadena to arrest one individual who was in Fullerton almost daily for a non-violent misdemeanor charge. Yes Police Chief Dan Hughes you can be objective but so often sir you are not objective at all. In fact we have witnessed you being a very biased, vindictive police chief who ignores the facts in the conduct of your work.

I also found it very, very disturbing that when Mayor Fitzgerald and City Manager Felz put the marijuana agenda item on a recent city council agenda, the Police Chief nor any of his direct reports had anything to say about this item. They wanted to put before the people of Fullerton not only the sale of the drug but also make Fullerton one of the first places to legally grow and manufacture the drug as well. Just another red flag that demonstrates how politicized our Fullerton Police Department has become under Police Chief Danny Hughes.

Finally you may say how can I state that Ms. Fitzgerald and Mr. Felz were for this being approved. It is very simple. If Mr. Felz and/or Mayor Fitzgerald were against this voluntary action, it would have never been placed by them on the city agenda.

          • #166 by Joe Imbriano on July 13, 2016 - 7:56 pm

The doctored lobby cam feed is a farce. This is one of the reasons Dan Hughes should be fired. The fact that Dan Hughes penned the report that was full of factual errors and totally unsubstantiated by the city’s video evidence is clear evidence to me that he is a danger to the community. The first thing that should have been established as rock solid was the video feed capturing what was alleged. After all this is a government building and the security should be tight and solid including video surveillance. Instead the feed failed to confirm everything Dan Hughes wrote, that Ms. Loya dreamed up, and the ATT rep fabricated. When the police chief can put whatever he wants in a police report and submit for prosecution to the DA when nothing exists to support what he alleges, NO ONE IS SAFE. Dan Hughes needs to be fired.

I wonder why Dan Hughes and Jan Flory have not contacted me like they did with the ATT rep to file assault charges and yet I have video of Pam Keller and Sharon Quirk Silva and Sex Ed Silva’s camera man violating my personal space and making me feel unsafe and threatened right in front of them and the entire city council.

It also shows what a fraud this whole thing is including how Bruce even admitted that Dan Hughes says he hates Barry Levinson and Bruce who appointed Barry to Park and Rec did nothing. Gennaco should have been involved investigating this falsified police report and Bruce, in spite of repeated requests from the public never once addressed this. Bruce turned his back on Barry and then fired him for no reason from his commissioner position. Bruce needs to be fired in November.

            • #167 by Anonymous on July 13, 2016 - 11:50 pm

You keep saying there was no reason to fire Barry. There are plenty of reasons, he just doesn’t have to state them.

            • #168 by Reality Is..... on July 14, 2016 - 7:55 am

So are you saying that Dan Hughes name is on Barry’s police report? Dan Hughes did the crime report against Barry? You sure about that Joe? Why don’t you just have Barry post the police report and the video that he has to show that he did nothing wrong? Sounds like a great post for you and Barry to do today. Right? So simple. I want to see Dan Hughes name on this police report!

Violating personal space isn’t a crime Joe. That shows how lost in outer space you are.

Bruce was a cancer for Fullerton. He needed to go before the election.

              • #169 by Joe Imbriano on July 14, 2016 - 10:32 am

Of course Dan Hughes did the report.
An intent to scare or frighten another person can be enough to establish assault charges.

Ashamed FR. What you fail to realize is that numerous cops go on every call. If it’s to go arrest a whack job activist in another city like JR or whatever his name was, or to be at a council meeting to make sure nothing goes crazy i.e. Barry, or anything else, nothing is ever 1 cop. It can be 2 to as many that are on duty. That’s part of policing.

The weed thing makes sense also. Weed is going to be legalized. No doubt about it. So the Chief isn’t going to come out as being against weed. He will maintain a neutral stance unless asked or until lawmakers push a law that is detrimental to the safety of Fullerton. Just like the Dallas Chief just said, don’t ask me about gun control. Ask your lawmakers to push some laws and I’ll respond to their laws. Until then, that’s up to the lawmakers.

Does anyone with integrity and honesty, remove a two time appointed committee member who has served faithfully for five plus years (never missing a Park and Recreation Committee meeting) without offering him any explanation? Worse Mr. Whitaker never gave Mr.

There is only one way to refute any well documented analysis such as Mr. Levinson’s, concerning the Fullerton Golf Course.

You take his analysis and if you can demonstrate with specifics that any part of his analysis is flawed, you would do so.

Instead all we have from those willing to throw honest people under the bus is more character assassination and name calling. The fact that no one, not even Council member Whitaker who appointed him, would ask one question concerning his analysis tells you all you need to know about just how corrupt our city government really is. Is it not the fiduciary responsibility of every council member to ensure that our tax dollars are not being wasted? Four to five million dollars over 20 years is a whole lot of tax dollars. Yet not one question about the analysis Mr. Levinson gave to each of those council members.

As Mr. Levinson has said before, Mr. Whitaker has a whole lot of explaining to do. The reason he has been relatively silent is obvious. Not even he can talk his way out of this one! But Mr. Whitaker with no details and no proof did cast vague reckless and totally false aspersions against Mr. Levinson in the Fullerton Observer. It is clear that Mr. Whitaker is not the man he has claimed to be all these years. He has proved himself to be as morally bankrupt as any of them.

As his Facebook page so aptly and ironically states…”Words may lie but actions will always tell the truth.”

    • #186 by Anonymous on July 15, 2016 - 2:57 pm

The city performed an audit and found no problems. Is Barry a trained auditor? I think his analysis may be suspect.

      • #187 by Fullerton Lover on July 15, 2016 - 8:42 pm

    Thought For The Day:

When asked by Mr. Imbriano the officers said they were there to answer questions about the homeless issue concerning Pacific Park.

We also know that when asked a simple question about that issue by Mr. Imbriano, the supervising officer answered he did not have any information concerning the homeless.

Suspicious do you not think. They are there to answer questions about a topic they readily admit they have no information to provide to us. They needed not one, not two, but three officers to answer questions about a topic they know nothing about and were never asked throughout the entire committee meeting.

Please note how far back they are sitting in an empty auditorium. If they were there to answer questions wouldn’t they have been sitting at the front of the auditorium or alongside Director Curiel right below the dais?

Finally, please remember that you the Fullerton taxpayer paid for all that waste of manpower from the FPD.

  44. #193 by Anonymous on July 16, 2016 - 12:12 am

So what? The officers were there in case Bombastic Barry flipped his lid. That’s no secret. Only surprise is that there weren’t more of them. Many of us have watched Levinson become unhinged. It’s not pretty.

    • #194 by Anonymous on July 16, 2016 - 8:43 pm

See it was a set up.

  45. #195 by Enough Is Enough on July 16, 2016 - 2:04 pm

What Anonymous inadvertently admitted was the following?

He states that it was perfectly okay for Dan Hughes to send three police officers to an almost empty auditorium during a Park and Recreation committee meeting for the chance, dare I say hope that Mr. Levinson would show up and then arrest him on any pretense that they could figure out. Do you understand the evil and the vindictiveness that would totally overshadow a proper use of our police resources?

We are supposed to put our trust in Police Chief Hughes to run our police department honestly and effectively. Yet it appears that he spends hours plotting ways to “get even” with a law abiding citizen of Fullerton. Is that what we pay our police department for? What a total disgrace. For Hughes to direct police personnel in such a shameful manner, proves his contempt for the Fullerton public. You say that I can not prove it was Hughes who directed them to the committee meeting. Well somebody did under the pretense they were there to answer questions about the homeless at the request of Park and Recreation Director, Hugo Curiel. So either Hughes did direct them or his direct reports, all of which he promoted to their current positions, directed the misuse of our police resources. Either way the buck stops with Police Chief Dan Hughes. I suggest someone ask Dan Hughes or his surrogate at the next city council meeting to answer who gave the order to send 3 officers to the June 2016 Park and Recreation Committee meeting.

    • #196 by Anonymous on July 16, 2016 - 6:22 pm

No, it just shows the contempt pretty much everyone has for Barry, and it’s well-deserved.

    • #197 by Reality Is.. on July 17, 2016 - 9:11 am

Answer? “Standard operating procedure”. Supervisor and 2 officers to all calls involving politics or possible issues.

  46. #198 by Anonymous on July 17, 2016 - 1:08 am

First of all, Enough is Enough is clearly Barry Levinson. No question about it. His writing style and nonsensical conclusions are unmistakable. Now he thinks he is an expert on police procedure.
Secondly, it is quite customary to assign officers as a precautionary measure to an event that has the potential for disruption. It is done all the time. It’s law enforcement 101. Better to be prepared and never needed, than to be needed but unprepared.
Suddenly Levinson is an expert on police procedure? How does he know why those officers were there? Perhaps a credible threat was made against a council member or city employee in the meeting or for some other reason. Admit it Barry, you flat out hate cops. Pathetic!

  47. #199 by Seriously? on July 17, 2016 - 11:43 am

Wow! I had to read Levinson’s (aka Enough is enough) last post three times to make sure I was reading it right. Don’t really know chief Hughes, but I absolutely 100 percent guarantee that he is not sitting around thinking of ways to get even with Levinson. That clod is probably No 100 on the chief’s list of priorities, just after taking out the trash. Cheeeez!

  48. #200 by Anonymous on July 17, 2016 - 2:05 pm

According to the always honest Reality Is, it is Standard Operating Procedure to have 3 officers at a Park and Recreation Committee meeting.

Is it also standard operating procedure for Fullerton Police Officers to lie when asked why they were present at the meeting?

For the record, I was there the evening that the alleged victim told the Fullerton City Council that she could not remember if Mr. Levinson made any contact with her at all. But I guess Dan Hughes does not need facts or evidence to go after someone he has stated that he could hate. Dan Hughes has done irreparable harm to the reputation of the FPD and deservedly so.

Again, from start to finish that investigation was the work of Dan Hughes. So not only was Dan Hughes sitting around thinking of ways to get even with Levinson, he took action to try to get an innocent man thrown in jail for a false allegation that not even the alleged victim would go along with.

Once again the FPD is shown to be a corrupt, politically motivated force under the direction of Dan Hughes.

It is so sad that we have a few morally bankrupt souls on this site that actually think Dan Hughes has done a good job.

  49. #201 by Seriously? on July 17, 2016 - 4:19 pm

Perry, you’re really starting to sound like all those criminals who play the victim card so well and blame the police for everything.

  50. #203 by Seriously? on July 17, 2016 - 6:49 pm

My bad … Meant to say Barry, not Perry. Typo.

And hate to disappoint you Barry, but Dan Hughes has been lauded by virtually every institution in this city, and deservedly so. There are people in this town who bitterly hated the FPD in the wake of Kelly Thomas, people who led protests, people who campaigned for the recall, who now give the chief high marks for what he has accomplished in reforming the FPD. What is really sad, Barry, is that there are a small handful of morally bankrupt people such as yourself who got their 15 minutes of fame after Kelly Thomas and need to continue to portray the department as being corrupt in order to continue to feel relevant. Pathetic!

    • #204 by Joe Imbriano on July 17, 2016 - 10:06 pm

    • #207 by Joe Imbriano on July 17, 2016 - 11:58 pm

That is not my platform. Watch the council meetings.

Wireless in the schools is a decision made by the school boards. Watch the board meetings.

The restaurants you refer to are watering holes, not restaurants. I never said to close down restaurants. We all love to eat and we have to eat to survive. DTF watering holes evade all kinds of sales taxes and they put 1000 plus drunk drivers onto the highways and byways of So Cal every night. I told Dan Hughes publicly that he should have his boys line up buses with shackles on the floor, bring in the boys from Brea and OCSD and set up a check point at the exits of SoCO and the parking structures and arrest every driver that is drunk or jacked up on blow meth head cleaner oxys or whatever and do it until there are no more jacked, drugged or drunk drivers or the bars go out of business. They can still serve food. If they are truly restaurants, they will do just fine.

You really like to try to mix things up and muddy the waters don’t you. It wont work.

            2. Stopping the Revised DCCSP in 2016
            3. Stopping the Richman Park Cell Tower in 2014.

One more thing Mr. Levinson and Mr. Imbriano stopped was the sale of the Hunt Branch Library.

Mr Levinson also helped to reopen the Independence Skate Park that had been closed for over three years.

The sale was packaged up by Chris Meyer and Sean Padens campaign manager Ryan Cantor at the library board meeting for the June Council agenda. https://thefullertoninformer.com/the-church-in-bed-with-the-state-crossing-the-line-the-hunt-library-and-grace-ministries/

                    No, it wasn’t.

You issuing a blatant lie, then repeating that lie over and over will never, ever, make it true.

I don’t really know why you feel a need to obscure the truth in order to propagate your world view. You’ve previously reported that these individuals voted to sell the library for $1,300,000, which never happened.

You owe these people a very public apology. That’s the decent thing to do.

The people of the United States are so used to being lied to by their elected officials that they too often accept this as a fait accompli’. Sloppy Joe is extremely sloppy with the truth.

Well U.S. District Judge Percy Anderson has a higher standard. He just threw out the plea deal for former disgraced sheriff Lee Baca as being too lenient. He obviously believes that obstructing justice and lying to the FBI are serious matters. Our law enforcement personnel should be held to the highest standards not be given light sentences or probation because of their working relationships with local prosecutors. The inmates who were savagely beaten by sheriff’s jailhouse personal were not shown any compassion by their law enforcement attackers.

Yes there will be some twisted souls who will claim that they do not care how badly or wrongly prisoners are treated by law enforcement. If our law enforcement personnel are guilty of crimes as bad and sometimes worse then the people they are guarding in prison, we as a society have a problem that must be addressed. My attitude toward dealing with all people who break the law is to be tough but fair.

I know there are so many good people out there just going to work everyday to feed and house their families. I say that is your main job, but it should not be your only responsibility. If you cherish all the things in America that we all sometimes take for granted, then all of you need to get more involved beyond the boundaries of your family and close friends.

We need a rebirth in this country that once again puts honor, justice, integrity and good citizenship at the forefront of everything we do. We the American people need to lead the way but going forward we must demand the same from our elected and appointed government officials. If we fail to do so, I am afraid that are national decline will continue and so much that we hold dear as Americans will be lost, maybe forever.

P.S. I will now wait for Reality Is, Sloppy Joe and Seriously to defend the indefensible and call me names. How sad are those individuals?

So once person drives DUI from a bar and you want to shut down all that cities bars? Before the investigation is complete? Did ABC investigate and find the bartender at fault? I mean this girl could have had 2 beers and you want to hang all the bars in Fullerton? Billions and billions of drinks served and you feel one accident and it’s over?. Strange thought process for sure. I mean with that thought process you probably should just shut down all bars and liquor stores across the country right? Because it’s the alcohols and the clerks fault?. Wow. The more I listen to you Fullerton Lover, Joe, and Barry it all makes sense. I used to blame this thought process on smoking too much weed, Tony Bushala, but I’m not sure what causes this thought process.

It is called being rational. The bar owners are a tax evading mafia whose rackets are a magnet for crime that is sucking our resources dry, ruining our youth, and getting people killed. By the way, on your way back from working on making your cavity breath worse and your hairline recede further from the sludge and slop at the slime bar, hang a left and tell that creep Joe Florentino that we want our damn sidewalk back.

          • #229 by Fullerton Lover on July 18, 2016 - 3:52 pm

You sure have a strange way of consistently rationalizing the bad behavior of the downtown bars in Fullerton Reality Is.

Did you actually watch the news clip showing the horrific aftermath of that 21 year old’s “girl’s night out” in downtown Fullerton?

The girl was driving 100 MPH going the wrong way on the 57 freeway and ended up killing six other people, one of which was her sister, in the accident.

Note that her sister was also a young mother.

I think we can rule out that she only was served two beers all that night in downtown Fullerton

There you go assuming again. You have no clue how many she was served or how drunk she was. Girls can be trashed on 3 drinks or even 2. Yes, i agree bars are there for people to party and have a good time and drink it up. As much as you want that to go away, it never will. Ever. Even though Joe’s campaign platform is now to get rid of every establishment or store or anything else that serves alcohol or tobacco, even if he gets elected that won’t happen.

Yes. I like to enjoy those places at times too. But I’m of age. That’s the issue with what you said and referred to facts, versus what is actually fact. Underage drinking may occur less than 1% but the bars aren’t the issue with underage drinking. Your neighbors are.

And you broad brush is comical as well. 2012 is pretty old data. Anyways, show me where Fullerton has the highest rate of alcohol related crashes again? I must be missing it. I see something about Fullerton having a high number of underage drinking related crashes which has nothing to do with the bars. hit and runs are primarily by unlicensed drivers, illegal aliens. Trump will handle that part.

Clear to me from these stats is that OTS needs to ship $5 million a year to Fullerton for overtime to do DUI details. Checkpoints, roving patrols, etc. They need more arrests.

Get on that. Maybe Joe and Barry will make that their platforms. Wait? That’s a trick bag huh? Wanting more arrests but that’s more overtime money for cops, and they both can’t stand cops and they think they make too much already. LOL

The overwhelming majority of citizens who attend downtown establishments and are able to enjoy alcoholic beverages responsibility should be denied their personal freedoms to do so because of the minority who don’t. Brilliant! And yes, let’s blame the owners of these businesses and not place the responsibility squarely on the shoulders of those who over indulge. You are a genius Joe! • #245 by Anonymous on July 19, 2016 - 2:25 pm

Fullerton Lover, I can absolutely guarantee you that under age drinkers are not drinking in downtown bars. They are getting their booze from other sources, maybe even from mommy and daddy. Again, let’s just blame the establishment owners and not place any accountability on the offenders themselves, or in this case, the offenders and their parents. Hammering away at the establishment owners is Politics 101.

You horses asses need to read this press release from the Fullerton PD saying that they gave out ten citations for underage drinking just this past March…

            http://www.fullertonpd.org/news/displaynews.asp?NewsID=428&TargetID=1

Patricia Hart was a stranger in her own town. When city officials and vinegary residents told her that downtown Fullerton was like the welcome mat to hell—that the place had become the epicenter of fights, theft and assaults—Hart, a city planning commissioner and 25-year resident, asked police if she could ride along one night to see for herself.

“It was an eye-opening experience to say the least,” said Hart. “I didn’t have any clue that there were so many young people who were so active at that time.”

By “active,” Hart meant drinking, wandering the streets, listening to music and hanging out in parking lots.

“It didn’t give me a pleasant feeling,” she said. “I didn’t exactly feel proud of my city. I didn’t realize we”—and here she meant good, old Fullerton—”were so popular with that age group, and I made a point of asking everyone I could where they were from: Long Beach, Moreno Valley, Anaheim. I did not meet one person who actually lived in Fullerton.

(that’s because they were off-duty Fullerton police officers!)

So a Barry clone says there are underage drinkers all over because she says so. Did she check IDs? Or just assuming?

Yes. Shoulder taps are a grant funded overtime detail.

Let me give you a hint. Get a list of the violations and what they were for. Hint: liquor stores that sell and people like you and I that decide to buy for kids that ask.

I’m trying to help you see facts and the big picture. B

Another hint. Don’t ever form your own story from the media. It will never be right. There is no such thing as unbiased media anymore and someone walking around creating their own story based on their opinion, like Hart, is usually wrong. Just like the radical hate terrorist group Black Lives Matter. Nothing they say is true. They are biased media driven.

Those slogans are inflammatory hate speech. Once they go there, nothing else they say will be taken seriously by law abiding citizens.

I am someone who has consistently spoken out about bad police officers and bad policing, whenever and wherever it exists. But I will never have anything to do with any group that espouses hate and violence and I will condemn those that use those tactics.

I distinctly remember that there were those same sentiments being expressed at the protests which occurred each Saturday in front of the Fullerton Police Department.

In fact, there were mannequins dressed as Fullerton police officers being hung in effigy.

Doesn’t mean that we paint all of those protesters that were involved in Kelly’s Army with the same brush does it Barry?

I do not want to pick an argument with you Fullerton Lover. Based on you many comments I can tell you are a very decent honest human being. However may I please point out what I perceive as the very big difference between the Kelly Thomas demonstrations and the BLM demonstrations as follows:

The BLM demonstrations were a march were in unison the marchers were chanting over and over again the above two slogans.

While at the Kelly Thomas protest there were only a few with derogatory signs about the police in general.

                      That is a major difference.

I did not hear any BLM leaders condemn the marchers in NYC and Minnesota for their violent chants. If they wanted a large segment of the population to take them seriously they should have done so in my opinion. Whenever a group very clearly seems to be advocating for violence is when I must speak out in opposition to that group.

Yeah I like you too Barry, and have always admired your perseverance and tenacity to affect a positive change in Fullerton.

I was trying to illustrate that people like you, Joe, and myself, know from our own personal experiences, that we ARE decent and honest people that stood up for an unarmed 137 pound shirtless mentally ill man after he had been beaten to death by the FPD, and not even close to being the thugs that Reality Is would have you believe.

I know that you and Joe were supportive of a peaceful and passive protest against what we saw as wrong and needed to change, yet their were ALWAYS a couple of knuckleheads in Kelly’s Army that wanted to take the law into their own hands by advocating for violence against the police.

I personally worked VERY hard with others to make sure that NEVER came to fruition.

I kind of remember you saying the same thing about this unarmed 19 year old kid who was shot multiple times by CHP officers who had chased him in a black unmarked car into a cul-de-sac near the Fullerton Airport and then shot them as they came back out.

Why did they have to shoot these two kids?

CHP shooting will be 100% justified. A truck is a weapon. Marked car or not. You drive into someone anyone you can die. The right person died in that incident. Could have easily been a CHP officer or other innocent victim.

                    • #265 by Fullerton Lover on July 21, 2016 - 6:22 pm

Absolutely no evidence that these two unarmed kids pointed their vehicle at the undercover officers as they were trying to exit the dead end street near the Fullerton Airport.

However I’m sure that the District Attorney will say that the shooting was still justifiable because the officers will say that they were in fear of their life when they saw this truck bearing down on them.

Just like they justified beating Kelly Thomas to death because they said that they were all in fear for their life to justify six of them beating him to death

That’s why we have civil courts where local politics and politicians receive no consideration.

The first ones in line for the lake of fire in The Bible are the cowards. The cowards that murdered and that tortured Kelly Thomas have gotten away with nothing. Fear Him who has the power to cast the soul into hell.

Here’s what I find interesting. After the death of Kelly Thomas, weeks and weeks of protests took place with protesters demanding justice. They chanted “No justice, no peace” and “What do we want? Justce! When do we want it? Now!” So DA Tony Rackauckas succumbs to public prrssure and charges two officers – not six- but two officers with murder and manslaughter respectively. The wheels of justice spin. A criminal trial takes place and both men are found not guilty in a matter of hours by a jury of their peers. So our justice system plays out, which is exactly what tbe protesters demanded. So why are they so angry? Because when people demand justice, what they are really saying is they want THEIR version of justice, not the justice decided by the US system of justice decided in a court of law. And then we have people like Barry Levinson, who has stated many times after the verdicts that SIX cops murdered Kelly Thomas. Uh, Barry. Mr. Son of a NY Cop, only two were charged and those two were found not guilty. Stop talking like an idiot!

                    • #269 by Fullerton Lover on July 21, 2016 - 7:42 pm

How do you determine which one of the participants landed the fatal blow that actually killed Kelly Thomas?

In California law, there is a term called, accomplice liability, or, “aiding and abetting”.

This means that an aider and abettor generally faces the same criminal charges under California’s Penal Code as the direct perpetrator. If convicted, they would typically also face the same penalties. In a murder case, for example, an aider and abettor typically faces life in prison just as does the one who commits the actual killing.

                    • #270 by Reality Is..... on July 21, 2016 - 9:58 pm

No one landed the fatal blow. That was the whole point. Kelly brought the run and fight on until he couldn’t fight anymore. Jury spoke. Get over it.

You are talking like Mosby in Baltimore now. She thought it would be fun to charge all 6 like you say all 6 should have been charged in Fullerton. She’s learning the same hard lesson. You don’t charge cops just because. She’s lost every case and won’t win one, and will hopefully lose her license over it all and her career. You don’t play politics with justice and policing.

So you can throw terms as much as you want. Policing can be ugly and it was in Kelly case. Suspects bring reactions by cops to get them in custody. Sometimes it’s not pretty but it’s also not a crime.

I find that there is a dark irony/hypocrisy in your comments about the all of the officers in the Kelly Thomas beat down not being charged with aiding and abetting a murder.
Although all of them actively participated in beating him to death, you would openly mock the DA’s attempt to charge them with a crime, yet if these were brown or black, you would have called them all thugs, and said that they all needed to be charged as accomplices to murder!

Says a lot about who you really are.

Good one Joe! Now piss off MADD, an organization, that, despite your ignorant comment stating “they do nothing about the source of the problem,” actually has done more than you could ever dream of, including going after establishments that irresponsibly serve alcohol to getting tougher laws passed for offenders. You are just talking out your ass! You know nothing about the percentage of people who drink responsibly compared to those who don’t.
Nor do you know what percent I belong to. Actually, I don’t drink at all, but I respect the personal right of anyone who chooses to drink. I have been out to several downtown restaurants with large groups of people. Some of us don’t drink at all, some enjoy a few cocktails and a few even enjoy many cocktails. When we leave, we drive or get a ride. But once again, you advocate for taking away freedom of choice from all our citizens, a right that is the very basis of the Constitution.
So let’s review your stance on several elements of our community:
You criticize Love Fullerton program, a movement that has helped thousands of underserved individuals; you slam the Fullerton police and their chief, who have been completely reformed and have earned the respect and admiration of people who were previously their harshest critics. You attack MADD, which has been responsible for tougher DUI laws across the nation. You’ve attacked most of the churches in town and people who attend those churches (again, a personal freedom inherent in our Constitution). You attack business owners and their right to free enterprise.
There is an old saying that goes something like this … I’m paraphrasing: “Better for people to think you are an idiot than for you to open your mouth and remove all doubt.” Joe, you removed all doubt a long, long time ago!

That’s the big question for Joe. He hates everything and everyone in Fullerton. Hates the leaders. Hates the city employees. Hates the cops and firemen. Not once has he ever commended or recognized a city employee for a job well done. Ever.

Or maybe the reason he still lives here is he hates all of those groups in every city so he would be doing the same thing in Brea or any city he moves.

Hate is not the correct term.
Do you remember the near riot that almost broke out when the FPD broke their word and started handing out citations for excessive honking?

The FPD, for the most part, showed great restraint in their handling of the KT protests. The protestors who got citations for excessive honking deserved them. They were disturbing the peace of residents in the area. The KT protestors blocked intersections and vandalized businesses. Virtually none of them even lived in Fullerton.

    • #305 by Fullerton Lover on July 22, 2016 - 11:24 am

That’s a really odd thing to say for someone who says claims that they understand the law?

“Barry will actually finally prove he did nothing.”

Basic Law 101 says that the necessity of proof always lies with the person who lays charges and that there is a presumption of innocence until proven otherwise.

This is a concept that it seems is lost on law enforcement that brands individuals as thugs and take the law into their own hands based on their own personal prejudice.

      • #306 by Reality Is..... on July 22, 2016 - 2:32 pm

        LOL wrong again Fullerton Lover.

My point has nothing to do with law or innocent until proven guilty.

Barry is a named suspect in a police report.

He keeps saying he has the proof that he did nothing wrong. But he refuses to post that so called video showing he did “nothing”.

Yea Barry is a named suspect. The DA didn’t file charges. That happens over and over everyday at DA’s offices across this country for a variety of reasons. It doesn’t mean the person is innocent.

Barry is claiming he is innocent and did nothing.

He says he has the proof.

If he wants people to believe his story then prove it. He’s the one offering the proof. The world has been waiting for months.

Nice below the belt ending too. Thugs. LOL. Yes criminals are thugs. I agree with that term for sure.

Your the one who uses the term, “thugs”, to describe people who are suspects in a crime, not me.

Criminals are actually people that have been convicted of a crime.

Determination of guilt is left to a Judge or a jury of one’s peers.

and wouldn’t right now be the right time for someone or many people to form the group WLM? Since whites are taking the brunt of all the hate, violence, destruction, etc? Or would that be termed racist right away? Like Immediately? Why is that? Whites are now the minority and getting the least government benefits of any race.

    Viola!

    Reality Is….. :

Here’s a good illustration of Basic Law 101 that you can’t seem to get your arms around…

    http://www.ocregister.com/articles/creek-723301-arrested-death.html

All five of these kids that were involved in this murder were charged with accessory to murder, which carries the same punishment as murder, even though only one of them landed the fatal blow or stab wound that killed the victim.

Why aren’t police officers such as the six officers who beat Kelly Thomas to death, held at least to the same standard as everyone else is ?

They will be when they die. They will face The One who put the 75,000 miles of circulatory system in their bodies that took 9 months to make by a God who took 7 days to create the heavens and the earth. Human beings are the apple of God’s eye and are created in His image. Murder never goes unpunished unless it is repented of. I have yet to see one of the murderers publicly apologize or show any remorse for what they have done.

        Remember this one?

All of these suspects were charged with accessory to the murder, even though only one bullet killed Danny Hughes’ first partner, Fullerton Detective Tommy De La Rosa.

I though that this case was interesting at the time, because the Superior Court Judge that tried the case was maintaining that it had appeared to him, that the Fullerton PD appeared to the ones that were intent on robbing these suspects, who were all illegal aliens that would never report the crime due to their illegal status.

In addition, they argued that the defendants were being used to divert scrutiny from the police department, which might have been responsible for the death of De La Rosa because of the way narcotics officers handled the covert operation.

Leslie De La Rosa, 40, has filed a $25-million civil suit accusing the Fullerton Police Department and five neighboring police departments involved in the undercover drug-sting operation of negligence.

Walker, a retired judge whose court experience was mostly in civil matters, also threatened at one point to bar Hughes from the trial and held the detective in contempt of court for comments during his testimony.

For those who argue that the police and fire have not received “decent” raises for a few years, I have this to refute that statement. You see Fullertonians, the percentage of their base pay going to help cover the pension obligation for the city, i.e. from the taxpayers has gone up significantly over the last few years. I do not have the exact figures in front of me but I can tell all of you that going back about 5 years the percentage paid by the taxpayers was in the 30% range. Now it is at or above the 50% range and estimated in the near future to approach 60%. So even though their base pay raises were not substantial in the last few years before the very large increases approved for this year, how much it costs the taxpayers to give them their salary and great benefit package has gone up double digits yearly over the last 5 years or so. Has anyone working for a private company averaged double digit increases for their entire pay packages? I think not!

    • #329 by Reality Is..... on July 23, 2016 - 8:47 pm

LOL you are so lost. Not even close to true.

Go to the PERS web page if you want to read about police officers through this state and what they pay and what they get when they retire. 3% at 50 doesn’t exist for new cops the last few years anymore though. And most cops are now paying 9% more to their retirement than they were a few years ago.

So again. Show me the last 10 years and we will see how much less they make now than before, even with the 2% raise.

Keep grasping though. You hate is starting to make more sense each time you type.

      • #330 by Barry Levinson on July 24, 2016 - 1:50 am

Reality Is complains that police now pay 9% of their pay while we the taxpayer are now paying 50% of their pay for pensions and scheduled to go higher. Let us do the math. 9% divided by 59% equals approximately 15%. In a year or two it will be 9% divided by approximately 69% equals 13%.

Please also not that when the new benefit was instituted in 2002 by a vote of the Fullerton City Council every Fullerton police officer was eligible for the 3% at 50 pension, even if they were under the old less generous rules for decades. This alone is costing the taxpayers hundreds of millions if not billions of additional dollars. The “experts” at CALPERS at the time said that this huge retroactive and going forward increase would cost the taxpayers absolutely nothing. In government they call this a “rounding error”.

Compare it to social security where we in the private sector get a small percentage of the police pension benefits but pay 50% of the premiums into the system not 15% or 13%. NOTE that with social security your employer pays a matching contribution. If you happen to be self-employed, you are responsible for paying both the employee and the employer portions, i.e. the whole amount. The police for their very generous pension should at least pay the same percentage of the cost as we do in the private sector for a much, much smaller social security benefit. That would mean that instead of paying 9% of their pay for their pensions they would pay 25% of their salary for pensions or one half the total amount paid into the CALPERS fund annually.

        • #331 by Reality Is.. on July 24, 2016 - 9:39 am

          Wrong again. Keep trying.

The city pays 9% per check and the city matches the 9%.

          It’s that simple.

Yes I know you would love to end the retirement of the city employees that are now elderly. You want to terminate a contract that someone else agreed too. That’s how you roll. Put 60-70-80-90 year old former employees on the street and homeless. That’s doesn’t surprise me at all.

So yes. As a Fullerton police officer I put an average of $500 per check into my retirement for 30 years which is about $360,000 or over $500,000 when invested properly, matched by the City, you feel that’s bad. I don’t. I feel well deserved. That’s where we differ. Just like you think the recent 2% isn’t deserved. Is what it is. That’s what life is all about.

And for those viewers that might think you know what you are talking about, Fullerton is in the PERS system just like all other police agencies in California. Fullerton isn’t their own scandalous system as you would lead them to believe. They are also below the median in pay for OC And local agencies.

Will the PERS system blow up someday? Never know. You and others said it would blow up 10 years ago. Still thriving as we speak and only a few cities have claimed bankruptcy trying to end their PERS obligations. It hasn’t worked yet.

Nice story, but is it grounded in Reality?

Interesting editorial which should concern all residents that will be expected to make up the shortfall in the PERS retirement fund in todays OC Register…

“The East Bay Times reported last week that CalPERS’ retirement debt “averages out to $11,000 for every California household which is relevant because taxpayers, not government workers, must make up the shortfall.
For private-sector employees, we invest our pre-tax cash into a fund – and sometimes employers match a portion of it – and our final retirement payout is determined by how much we put in the account and how well the investments perform. We combine that with a reduced retirement lifestyle and other investment income.

For public employees, their agency guarantees a retirement payout based on a formula (plus a bunch of pension-spiking gimmicks). It invests the funds employers and employees contribute. When investment returns are great, the fund has plenty of cash to pay for pension promises. But when they are low, an unfunded liability – or taxpayer-backed debt – emerges. That’s why CalPERS’ piddling earnings should concern us.

State courts have consistently ruled public employees’ pensions can never be reduced – even going forward. They are safe unless a municipality goes bankrupt. As debt rises, local and state agencies have to contribute more. Services have to be cut.

CalPERS and its union-dominated board are all about protecting these enormous pensions, so they tell the rest of us not to worry. They even justify plans to expand benefits. The people who directly benefit from the system get to make all the decisions. Other people pay the tab. It’s the opposite of our personal-investing scenarios

Reality Is is flat out wrong when he states “The city pays 9% per check and the city matches the 9%.” To say that the city i.e. the Fullerton taxpayers are only paying 9% is a flat out not true and either Reality Is is misinformed or is intentionally misleading the readers.

He is also wrong about my position on city government pensions. My position has always been that I am in favor of keeping the defined benefit plans which guarantees a certain pension benefit at retirement. But the percentage of final pay to be paid as a benefit must either be lowered or police and fire must pay more into the system or a combination of both. The current setup is creating massive revenue shortfalls and causing city services to suffer greatly. Please just look at our roads…third world country standards.

            • #336 by Reality Is..... on July 24, 2016 - 2:04 pm

Then tell me what percent the city has paid the last 30 years. Go ahead since you seem to know. I know. Do you?.

So what is your recommendation for the current people in the current system? Many people have tried to do what you say but it fails every time. Doing what you say puts many elderly broke because it’s busts the PERS system forever. It won’t happen. You can’t stop the current system without taking away the retirements of many elderly people that have no other choices right now.

So yes, that doesn’t surprise me you would back that. And just making a defined system right now isn’t feasible.

Levinson, you’re an idiot! You’re dead wrong on the percentages and the reason the city is making larger payments to Calpers is because they have been required to, just like every other city, in order to pay down their unfunded pension debt. Has nothing to do with pay increases. Stop lying to the people. In fact Fullerton has a much better handle in it than most cities in OC.

    • #340 by Barry Levinson on July 24, 2016 - 11:50 am

Yes part of the payments now are to help pay down the unfunded liability for pensions. Who may I ask are those payments benefiting? Of course the police and fire employees. If the payouts were not so generous, the rates that the city i.e. the taxpayers are having to pay would be lessoned.

I told you my source of information on these 19 year olds getting shot over near the Fullerton airport was more reliable than your standard blind rhetoric, that said that these kids were thugs who were trying to run these officers over, and that the officers shot these kids because they were in fear for their life.

Looks more like they were executed in cold blood for a traffic infraction.

The CHP has said the officers opened fire because Villanueva made a U-turn, drove toward them and failed to stop.

Orozco and the driver’s family claim the pair had no way of knowing the undercovers were law enforcement.

“They never once used a siren, a loud speaker or provided any warning whatsoever before they started shooting,” Orozco says in a statement. “They never identified themselves as law enforcement until after they stopped shooting.”

….According to the Fullerton Police Department account, undercover CHP officers were conducting an operation in Los Angeles County against car clubs just before 11 p.m. July 3 when they followed a red pickup truck to a cul-de-sac near Fullerton Municipal Airport.

The truck at some point made a U-turn and headed directly at the officers, who opened fire. Villanueva, the truck’s driver from Canoga Park, died at the scene. His passenger, an unidentified 18-year-old man from Santa Fe Springs, was hit in the arm with gunfire, treated at a local hospital and released.

Villanueva probably did not know he was being followed by CHP officers because they were wearing street clothes and driving an unmarked vehicle, Fullerton Police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel later disclosed.

I’ve said it from the beginning that if these six police officers were civilians that had beat Kelly Thomas till death, that all six of them would have been on trial for accessory or aiding and abetting a murder, and I find what is particularly sad, whom I personally think should be held to a higher standard, because of they’re all obviously very knowledgeable of the law as sworn police officers, are actually held to not even a lower standard…they’re actually held to no standard at all and were able to get away with the murder of Kelly Thomas.

A friend of mine told me the other day that there are some imminent changes in the laws that are currently in the works, and that by the end of the year that their will be major reforms announced which should shake things up a bit.

              Stay tuned!

              • #360 by Reality Is.... on July 27, 2016 - 6:23 pm

LOL your friend. I’ll wager on that bet too. Any amount you choose by the end of the year. I can 100% guarantee no law will change by the end of the year. $10,000? $20,000? Let’s gamble!! Put your money where your mouth is?

Policing can only have so many reforms. YOu have to show something is wrong to fix it. Black LIves mater has no substance because they don’t rely on facts. Just like the Baltimore case. DA just tried to flex muscle. YOu can’t flex muscle against cops. They have millions in backup to fight bad charges. She learned a very hard lesson and her career is now over.

I’m all for mixing things up or changing bad laws or fixing things that are broken. You can’t fix things that aren’t broken.

I do predict one thing. Crime rates will continue to skyrocket as they are now. They will get worse until people demand change. They will get way way worse each day because of the law changes thus far. You rely on crime stats from 2014 when you talk. 2015 and 2016 will show a drastic increase. The other main contributor to that will be cops not being proactive any longer. Some say it’s been happening since last year. Some say crime is going up for run and it has nothing to do with the last 1.5 years. I say it has everything to do with that and criminals being treated better than victims now. Cops have no reason to be proactive. It’s not part of their oath and is of no benefit any longer. Just be reactive. Just answer calls and drive around. Being proactive used to make policing more fun. More arrests. Bad people off the street. But proactive also involves force, shootings, and getting injured. So when we come back here next year at this time, I will say crime rates will be way worse than now and I will blame it almost all on cops being cops and nothing more. Just doing their job as they are supposed to do it.

                We shall see.

and just to educate you a little bit. There is a huge difference between cops and civilians in terms of laws and case law. Research it. So comparing those two like you did makes no sense at all. Cops chasing someone fleeing an arrest and then resisting arrest, is much different than you and I beating the crap and killing Tony Bushala. So yes, I agree with you but that’s way apples and oranges. Not even close.

…I personally only wish that I had 1/10th of the character and personal integrity that the district attorney in Baltimore displays in this video which shows that she is clearly not going to succumb to the threats that law enforcement is making against her and her family.

              I LOVE this woman’s pluck!

She’s the epitome of garbage. Her career is over. She’s typical of BLM and other people in this generation. All about blame. Half this country said from the start that case was trash and she fell to politics in her charging the case. The case clearly had no shot from the start. Her speech was garbage just like her. Blame blame blame. This generation was clear in her speech. Now she has to defend the 6 lawsuits against her from the 6 cops. Hope they rape her for millions.

                • #366 by Fullerton Lover on July 27, 2016 - 11:28 pm

What happened to that law degree of yours?

Look up the Supreme Court decision of Connick vs. Thompson in Louisiana.

How do you think T Rack has gotten away with all he has without the Justice Department intervening?

The district attorney’s office is even a thousand times harder than suing a cop.

Blame the conservative majority that decided it, because the decision was split along party lines.

                  • #367 by Reality Is... on July 28, 2016 - 8:29 am

Didn’t say they would win but goes along with my other points. Anyone can sue anyone anytime. She will still have to defend it. I think it was clear there wasn’t evidence to charge all 6 from the start. I think she might be in trouble. At least her career is over.

                    • #368 by Fullerton Lover on July 28, 2016 - 10:10 am

“Opinion polls show that Mosby has remained popular in Baltimore. Democratic primary voters surveyed last fall said they supported her handling of the case by a 3-to-1 margin.”

                    • #369 by Reality Is... on July 28, 2016 - 2:06 pm

Yes last fall Dems thought she was as close to God possible. Now that even people with a half a brain see the facts, I’m sure she has lost steam. The people that love her don’t even know what the cases are about and how bad she screwed them up. Now that she blamed the cops for the cases failure, it just shows how lost she is. She conducted her own independent investigations and it’s the cops fault? Lol she’s lost. Mirror Mosby?

              • #370 by Vanilla ice cream on July 27, 2016 - 11:51 pm

Maybe she is not going to succumb to threats made by law enforcement, but she sure succumbed to the pressure of a mob of thugs when she decided to file charges against five cops after an investigation that lasted all of a day and a half. Those types of investigations typically take many many months. Even the judge admonished her for wasting the court’s time.

and I’m all for good change that incorporates the entire system and leaves no one hanging that’s been promised something for life already. Defined system doesn’t work. PERS works. But you can’t end PERS now for fun. The system collapses.

If Levinson is or ever was a CPA, then I’m the king of Siam. Tell us Mr. Levinson, where did you practice as a CPA? In what state do you hold your license?
That presentation he made about the Fullerton Golf Course a few months back was so convoluted and ridiculous, it drew giggles from everyone in the council chambers who ever took a fourth grade math class.

    • #373 by Reality Is..... on July 24, 2016 - 10:48 pm

He was probably a CPA for a minute and got fired like Ron Thomas did. Remember? Ron Thomas was a retired Deputy Sheriff to start his camera campaign and money grubbing hunt. Then he was a former fired Deputy Sheriff once he was found to be a liar quickly.

Many of the people who have supported Bruce Whitaker in the past thought he was an honorable man, the exception to the rule of the average dishonest, dirty politician. But now we learn that the image is so, so different than reality. Those supporters now willing to look at the facts know that they were wrong about Mr. Whitaker.

The way he handled the termination of Mr. Levinson and the fact that he ignored a 4 to 5 million dollar problem brought to his attention by his appointee among many other things, shows him to be untrustworthy and a phony. What happened to his pledge to carry out his fiduciary responsibility to the people of Fullerton?

We have come to learn this year that he is Just one more self-centered, self-absorbed politician. With friends like Bruce Whitaker, those in favor of transparent, honest, limited government do not need enemies. In fact it is better to know who your opponents are rather than be fooled and mislead by someone acting as your friend. He just ignored a 4 to 5 million dollar problem for his own selfish political agenda. Now that we know the real Bruce Whitaker and that he is obviously much more concerned about getting re-elected and going for higher office than doing the right things. We need to show him the door…quickly.

We the people of Fullerton want to know why you voted for the most corrupt redistricting map available, Map 8A not once but twice and voted to make Jennifer Fitzgerald Mayor? HOW COULD YOU?

Fool us once, your fault, but fool us twice, three, four or five times and it will be our fault. There is absolutely no good reason why he ignored the Fullerton Golf Course issue. But the reason he removed Mr. Levinson is simple. Mr. Levinson was getting in the way of the city doing its corrupt, phony deals. DCCSP, College Town, the Revised DCCSP (which would have remove Polly’s Pies and one of the few shopping centers in the eastern part of Fullerton), a Consent Calendar deal to extend the Summit House Restaurant lease deal on City of Fullerton parkland with the same terms through the year 2060. This meant that no discussion was going to happen unless an honest citizen spoke out, which happened to be Barry Levinson and on and on it goes. So they got rid of Mr. Levinson right before the start of the 2016 election maybe because they did not want him to have a Committee title next to his name if he ran for a council seat. That supposed stalwart of decency took his orders from the Republican hierarchy probably in exchange for their support come November and beyond. These are the actions of a very ethically challenged human being and a very dirty politician. You are a traitor to all that supported you but were fooled by your worthless political grand standing orations on the dais. But when the rubber met the road, Bruce Whitaker was more than willing to make road kill out of someone who represented him and much more importantly the people very well for many years. Why? Bruce Whitaker is silent on the why but he does infer it was due to Mr. Levinson’s actions in some way. With that line of false innuendo, I say never let Mr. Whitaker call himself a statesman ever again. Lastly, with his veil of deception lifted, never let him hold public office again.

Those are very serious comments and beg the question. Why would he remain silent and then terminate his appointee?
