Mayor Fitzgerald along with the council majority have willfully put the city into millions of dollars of debt (current $2.8 million dollar deficit) and yet they want to keep on giving to their special interest buddies nonstop!

College Town Specific Plan,

Downtown Core and Corridor Specific Plan (DCCSP),

Hunt Branch Library proposed sale

They are hoping all will soon pass.

Need more proof of the intentions of our city council and city manager.  Here is the Library Board of Trustees Agenda for February 25, 2016.  Under Regular Business, Item No. 2 it states the following: Hunt Branch Future – Action Requested.  That was the opaque way this city attempted to get the recommended approval for the sale of the Hunt Branch Library to come to council without anyone from the community being any the wiser.  According to Jane Rands, Chris Meyer retired City Manager,

made a motion to recommend selling the property because of its hard to find location.    In addition, Joe Felz suggested that the Hunt Branch Library and property should be sold to the Grace Ministries as a sole source transaction.  The same city manager that wants this city council to give him total control over high-rise developments throughout most of Fullerton, wants to sole source the sale of Hunt Library. No surprise there, just the same old undemocratic, I want to be Emperor Joe. But last night at Fullerton City Council, the Emperor had no clothes but the same familiar brooding evil stare.

He was so shaken by my remarks that he even responded to me.  He said that he did recommend the sole source sale to Grace Ministries because they came to him showing interest in buying the property and with the sale we could keep the building as a Historical Structure.  He then stated that the whole explanation was way to complicated to go into at council.   Really Joe, someone who has the floor for as long as he wants says he can’t go into the whole explanation for his underhanded, crony capitalism, neighborhood and taxpayer-screwing idea!  You had all the time in the world Mr. Felz but you got caught with your pants down.  Our Fullerton Emperor indeed has no clothes.

The city provided the residents of southwest Fullerton no warning, and no community outreach.  They wanted to get this action item done as quickly and as quietly as possible.  Only a city that has total contempt for its residents would attempt to pull off such a secretive end around to get their way.

The city council just gave the Police a 6% annual raise and the Firefighters a 9% raise over the next two years costing the taxpayers multi-millions of dollars but they say they do not have the money to keep the library open or apparently to even keep the property.

The following is what Joe Felz and our City Council is telling the good people of Fullerton.

  • Hunt Branch Library and Park No,
  • Decent Roads No,
  • Decent Water and Sewer Pipes No,
  • Entrance to 57 freeway from Nutwood Avenue expendable (i.e. let the commuters eat cake on the grass esplanade formerly Nutwood Avenue).

But they are in favor of the following:

  • Much more traffic and congestion,
  • Much more air pollution,
  • Many more 8 story high-rises throughout the city, and
  • Much more water rationing for the existing city residents as the size of the city grows tremendously.

This is the sad legacy of our City Council and City Manager would like to leave to the residents of Fullerton as Joe Felz retires with his approximately 200,000 dollar pension and Mayor Fitzgerald gets rewarded generously by Mr. Pringle for bringing home the bacon.

I report, you decide.

Every one of them. They are destroying Fullerton.

These proposals DCCSP, College Town, possible sale of Hunt Library should never even be considered. They are all destructive to Fullerton.

We have liberal Jan Flory with almost an identical voting record with proclaimed fiscal and social conservative Mayor Jennifer Fitzgerald. Now I did hear that Mayor Fitzgerald used to be a Democrat, which may explain the above and also explain why she works for a proponent of big government consulting firm.

However, you have Republican leaders, Shawn Nelson and Ed Royce supporting both Mayor Fitzgerald and Bruce Whitaker for reelection. How can these two men support elected officials with 180 degree different voting records? What does this say about the conservatism of both Shawn Nelson and Ed Royce? Did someone say politics over conservative principles? Yes that makes perfect sense as well.

  3. #3 by Barry Levinson on March 5, 2016 - 5:02 pm

The Library Board of Trustees’ Agenda did not even include the word, “Library”, when referring to it as only the Hunt Branch. Three years ago the city council said that the closure of the library was only temporary. An award winning architect designed the Hunt Branch Library. It was donated originally in 1962 to the city with the understanding that Fullerton would use it as a library and park space in perpetuity. Therefore, it should remain that way. The fact that they have the right now to sell it, does not make it the right thing to do for Fullertonians. It is not excess space or land. Therefore, it should not be sold to special interests, especially with a sole source bid. This is Tammany Hall type politics. Buildings and flat usable parcels like this one are no longer available in Fullerton.

The city finds itself drowning in red ink and now they want to sell our treasure to make up for a part of the shortfall they themselves have created by their poor stewardship. Remember initially the city floated the idea of turning off the spigot indefinitely at Laguna Lake before the people rose up in opposition.

The city should have done a much better job negotiating this current round of city employee contracts but instead gave them millions upon millions of additional dollars in higher salaries and for their financially crushing benefits. The city gave the police a 6% raise next year, which translates into an average raise of approximately 5,000 to 6,000 dollars per police officer (all ranks). The gave the fireman a 9% raise over the next two years. We (meaning the taxpayers) also are now paying 45% of their base salaries for their pensions alone. Now their total benefits costs the taxpayers well over 60% heading to 70% of their base pay in addition to their salaries. The best Fortune 100 company today pays half that in benefits for its average employees. But then the average Fortune 100 employee does not get to retire as early as 50 years of age with a 90% pension benefit and free or almost free health care.

We the people of Fullerton will simply not allow our city to dispose of this property.

    • #4 by Anonymous on March 6, 2016 - 12:45 am

      How much for the Muck?

I’m sure if we sold that piece of property, we could at least float Chris Meyer’s pension a few more years?

    • #5 by Joe Imbriano on March 6, 2016 - 9:40 am

The people of Fullerton need to dispose of Jennifer Fitzgerald and Jan Flory in November. They continue to vote for these giveaways and will always vote for massive development and selling off our treasures to solve the problem. By the way, how does Ed Royce and Shawn Nelson endorse Jennifer and Bruce? This is a major issue that needs to be addressed. Does anyone have any input as to how this dichotomy exists? Are Bruce and Jennifer somehow working together?

      • #6 by Anonymous on March 6, 2016 - 4:18 pm

I suspect Bruce Whitaker and Jennifer Fitzgerald are operatives in a covert conspiracy aimed at installing wifi in every area of the city. They must be stopped Joe!

Actually Bruce is an operative for Shawn Nelson you dumbshit.

With Jan Flory and Jennifer Fitzgerald present in the courtroom, a Judge shot down the city council’s plan to Gerrymander the voting districts to favor downtown Fullerton business interests over the residents interests.

He saw right through them all!

Having Royce and Nelson supporting both Fitzgerald and Whitaker makes it difficult/uncomfortable I suspect for Whitaker to freely criticize unelected Mayor Fitzgerald. However, without defeating Ms. Fitzgerald in the next election it will be next to impossible for Mr. Whitaker to have majority support on the council. For that reason alone, you would think that a smart man like Mr. Whitaker would be exposing Ms. Fitzgerald for the big government liberal she truly confirms she is with each and every vote. Is his failure to criticize Ms. Fitzgerald a price he has to pay for both Royce’s and Nelson’s support of his candidacy? If so, I believe it is a price the people of Fullerton can ill afford. At this point in time in Fullerton we can’t afford any elected official putting his/her self-interest in front of the interests of the people. Can you imagine how much better off our country would be if our politicians all lived by this Motto? I will either do what is right or I will step aside?

    • #11 by Anonymous on March 6, 2016 - 8:23 pm

Where are you getting your information and besides, Ed Royce supports many candidates? Who wouldn’t want his endorsement? Joe is just jealous because no one is supporting him. He is just a sore loser who is just a nobody.

      • #12 by Anonymous on March 7, 2016 - 9:55 am

        Amen to that!
And most advocates of small government that I know – including at least one on the city council – believe government should not own vast amounts of land and property. For people like Levinson and Imbriano, it’s more about pure hatred for some individuals than what makes sense for the good people of Fullerton.

        • #13 by We Deserve Better on March 7, 2016 - 10:48 am

Keeping a public library to serve the community is not owning vast amounts of land. Does small government advocates also believe that selling valuable buildings and property should be done sole source rather than by competitive bid? Sole source bid, especially in this case is another example of crony capitalism and corruption. With a competitive bidding process, the citizens of Fullerton are guaranteed to get full fair market value for the property. The fact that our City Manager was promoting a sole source bid to a specific buyer demonstrates clearly a lack of fiduciary responsibility on his part. An honest council would be looking to replace him for such actions.

From my vantage point the only thing Joe and Barry do not like is corruption, crony capitalism, and phony/dishonest politicians. Those that practice the above are the ones who do not care about the people of Fullerton.
Joe and Barry are speaking out for the people of Fullerton. Trying to put in motion the sale of a library, sole source no less, in as secretive a process as possible is demonstrating both contempt and arrogance toward the people of Fullerton. Anyone who supports such action is also supporting a corrupt government in action.

          • #14 by Anonymous on March 7, 2016 - 2:26 pm

If you honestly believe that the Joe has the best interest of the people of Fullerton at heart, you are profoundly mistaken. The man embraces more conspiracy theories than the JFK assassination, reveres a lunatic pastor who prays for the death of anyone he doesn’t like, takes photos and video of every human in his path and runs a site that that is essentially a forum for cyber bullying. Yup! I’m sure the majority of Fullerton voters would love to see this man in a position of leadership.

            • #15 by Fullrton Lover on March 7, 2016 - 7:53 pm

A real patriot is someone who loves their country enough to speak up when they see something that needs to be changed; not someone who blindly assumes that their government knows best and is always right no matter what.

              • #16 by Anonymous on March 9, 2016 - 12:34 pm

And that said, a real patriot is NOT a conspiracy theory wacko who believes the government controls the weather and injects cancer causing agents into vaccines.

Would you have believed me in 1984, if I told you that our own United States Air Force pilots and planes were being used by our own government to ferry tons of cocaine into America’s inner cities, in exchange for arms for the Contras would you have believed me?

However now we know all of that to be entirely true, thanks to the Iran/Contra hearings that were conducted years later by Senator John Kerry’s committee.

Can anybody imagine creating the Declaration of Independence, our Bill of Rights and the entire U.S. Constitution with the current bunch of self-serving, self-absorbed, dishonest, phony politicians that overwhelmingly currently represent the good people of Fullerton, California and the United States? They were for truth and for We the People not We the Privileged elected class. I guess our Forefathers are also haters as well according to the 2 people who are bashing this site 24/7.

Our city is drowning in red ink, our roads, sewers and water mains are the worst in Southern California and some think this is funny. Our politicians are similar to the carpetbaggers from the North that bled the South dry after the Civil War. In our case it is the crooked politicians bleeding our city dry with unsustainable raises and benefits for the city employees who mainly live elsewhere. They will not succeed in selling our city to the lowest bidder as in the Hunt Branch Library or approving dozens of high-rise buildings for the 11,700 dollar per unit Park Dwelling Fees. I predict that Mayor Fitzgerald will become a great big disappointment to her boss, Curt Pringle when he realizes she can’t deliver the goodies from her seat on the dais.

  7. #25 by Reality Is.... on March 8, 2016 - 7:23 pm

Fullerton is just fine. Don’t believe the hype. Go read the FFFF blog. I made predictions when TonyB and his boys were making bold predictions years ago. I even offered money to make bets on the future. No one would take them. They said the city would be bankrupt by the end of 2014. I said they would be thriving. Reserves. They said Sheriff’s. I said same PD and hiring. I said Tony and his boys would be long gone by 2015. Anyone heard from them? I said they missed the boat by not going after Squirky Silva because she bought socks for the transients and she would be gone to bigger things if they didn’t take her out. I was right.

Just remember. Never forget. Reality Is is the Fullerton Truth speaker. He knows. I also said DannyBoy and Feliz would thrive and make Fullerton the best city in the OC.

Reality Is is the real leader of this city.

    • #26 by We Deserve Much Better on March 30, 2016 - 11:33 am

Besides all his other less than admirable qualities, Reality Is…can be labeled a narcissist.

He is the “real leader”. He knows everything is”just fine” in Fullerton Government.

What about the 2.8 million dollar deficit?

What about the millions just given in raises to police, fire and the rest of the employees with no money to pay for them on top of the 2.8 million dollar deficit?

What about the worst roads, sewers and water system in Southern California?

What about the ripped up sidewalks and Don Hoppe telling the council that we only can afford 200K for repairs this year, which he stated was woefully inadequate?

What about the testimony by FPD Craig and Rubio that stated the FPD did everything by the book the night of Kelly Thomas murder, which guarantees that those officers suing for their jobs back, get a big payday courtesy of the crooked FPD and of course the Fullerton taxpayers?

What about the desperation of City Manager Joe Felz to sell the Hunt Branch Library as a sole source transaction? If you want to sell anything below market value that is the way to proceed. If you care about the taxpayer, it is never the way to proceed.

What about the city’s failure to fix Laguna Lake for over a decade, wasting millions of gallons of water?

What about the fact that the city hides its water usage by passing every dime of it to the ratepayers of Fullerton in the form of higher water bills?

I can go on and on but I have a dentist appointment Thursday.

      • #27 by Reality Is..... on March 31, 2016 - 10:29 am

Deficit? Where? I see a balanced budget. 🙂

        Roads match California.

Raises? They got a raise. I’m waiting for the last 10 years comparison. Go ahead.

Craig and Rubio? Jesus. Jury said they did it by the book too. that was so long ago.

Annony. I’ve said it more than 20 times now. You and Barry and Joe have thrown that out there many times. Endless raises and overbearing benefits.

I’ll ask it again. Show me the last 10 years of pay raises and benefit increases for police and fire in Fullerton. You all refer to it in every sentence about what is wrong with Fullerton but refuse to show me the chart for the last 10 years. Why is that? Maybe because it will show minimal if anything at all for increases in pay and benefits? Noooooo couldn’t be.

I’ll keep waiting. Proofs are something you have issues with. Go ahead. Prove me wrong.

  8. #33 by Fullerton Lover on March 8, 2016 - 9:40 pm

It just occurred to me that watching Jennifer Fitzgerald bully men from the council dais, reminds me of watching Marcy D’Arcy from the 80’s sitcom, “Married With Children” belittle Al Bundy whenever he rained on her parade.

…Well Steve, I guess much like our honeymoon, it’s up to me to finish the job and pay the bill!”
    —Marcy D’Arcy

Marcy D’Arcy (played by Amanda Bearse), formerly Marcy Rhoades, is Peg Bundy’s best friend, Al’s nemesis, and the family’s next door neighbor on the FOX series Married… with Children. Though she considers herself to be better than the Bundys, Marcy often sinks to their level. She originally worked as a loan officer at the city bank (in a higher position than her husband, Steve) and then as the manager of the Kyoto National Bank from the second season. But for a brief time, she was demoted to drive-up window teller as punishment for approving a loan Al could not repay (in fact the purpose was to make Al able to repay a previous loan approved by Steve, but Al instead turned this loan into his “shoe hotline” project as well, and lost it too). She won back her old job after frugging on her boss’s desk for 20 minutes, clad only in a slip, while the other drive-up window tellers tossed quarters at her. Marcy holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics.

Initially, Marcy was a sweet, wholesome newlywed, but years of living next to the Bundys apparently warped her into a character almost as outrageous as the Bundys. She contemptuously bickered with Al, and reveled in his misery. One of the reasons for her hatred of Al is his chauvinistic and misogynistic view of women. Marcy seemed to have a disturbing dark side, and enjoys sharing her past memories with Peg, but often tends to get lost in them. At various points in the series, she is identified as a who looks down on the Bundy clan, but is also a environmentalist. Marcy is an active feminist, leading a group of other ‘feminists’ to gain equal rights to men. while not a bad thing she is unfortunately characterized as a ‘straw feminist’ who seeks superiority over men rather than equality based solely on the fact that as women they are automatically better than men. She is often portrayed being sexist towards men which is ironic since she frequently calls Al out on his chauvinism. She admonishes male strip clubs as demeaning women yet doesn’t see anything wrong into going to one for women where men dance for them. During the dream arc where she and Peggy were pregnant she and her pregnant women’s group took over Al’s garage/private room on the grounds that as women they can do anything they want and take whatever they want from men just because they are women, calling themselves W.O.M.B for (Women. Owe. Men. Bupkiss).

She has however been civil with Al from time to time, such as when Steve was arrested. Al comforted Marcy at a bar and told her all about the ‘horrors’ of having kids. She also warned Al to not jump to conclusions when Al suspected that Kelly had earned money for a dress by prostituting herself(Kelly was actually hustling pool with Jefferson as her manager).

Al’s most frequent targets are Marcy’s flat chest and her chicken-like stance when she gets annoyed. In season 6 Marcy claimed she was pregnant though this was later written out of the show. This was done when Katey Sagal’s pregnancy was written out after the actress suffered a miscarriage. Marcy had a loud, piercing laugh, which she usually displayed whenever Al suffered some misfortune.

One of the running gags in the series has Marcy often mistaken for a young boy, on one occasion even being mistaken for; when she reminisces about her first training bra, Al asks “How old were you then—twenty five?!” Despite wanting to appear prudish, Marcy is shown to be a very sexual person, and is revealed to have a rather sordid sexual history, such as the “Little Bo Peep and the Cop” game.

Though she will often make disparaging remarks about Bud and Kelly she does not seem to hold the same contempt for them that she does for Al, possibly because she realizes that the Bundy children cannot be faulted for their behavior due to their extremely dysfunctional upbringing.

Marcy often relives past moments in her life as well as routine experiences (such as going to the dentist) by telling stories and describing them in a sexual manner.

Although Marcy and Al are usually adversaries, they often unite in common causes, such as later when Jefferson comes into the series. Their teamwork is attributable to the fact that they are both “bread-winners,” giving them occasional moments of mutual understanding. She even writes a song called Al Bundy away.
