COMMENTARY BY BARRY LEVINSON
Larry continues to dig a deeper and deeper hole for himself with his arrogant and contemptuous comments toward the good citizens of Fullerton. He in particular called out the online site called NextDoor, which is a site dedicated to connecting people in the same or adjoining neighborhoods.
He also made a point in support of this development that also showed his lack of objectivity. According to Commissioner Bennett, the fact that the owner of the property wants to sell to Red Oak is evidence that it is a good project. Think about that statement. Mr. Bennett apparently has been spinning the facts for so long that he does not even realize when he makes comments that on its face defies any common sense.
Of course the owner of the land wants his sale to be consummated. But to use that fact as justification that it is a good deal for the community is beyond the pale.
This man, LARRY BENNETT wants to be your next city council member.
Tell LARRY BENNETT on November 8th, that before we would consider giving him our vote, he first has to demonstrate that he actually represents us and not all the special interests.
P.S. I noticed yesterday that two large banners for Larry Bennett for Fullerton City Council were on the fencing in front of the closed Fullerton Internal Medicine building, the site where Melia Homes wants to build all those townhomes.
Since that issue can and probably will come up for a vote again to the Planning Commission, it seems those banners could create at least the appearance of a conflict of interest.
Question: Do we need another council member who seems to favor the special interests over the good people of Fullerton?
I REPORT, YOU DECIDE.

A few months ago at a Planning Commission meeting, I had to correct a comment from Planning Commissioner Larry Bennett that the Downtown Core And Corridor Specific Plan (DCCSP) has been dead and buried for two years and that any concern for its eventual passage was disingenuous.
Well the only person being disingenuous was Larry Bennett. For an agenda item had come before the same Planning Commission a month or so before with Larry Bennett on the dais entitled the Revised Downtown Core and Corridor Specific Plan. This was a scaled down version of the original DCCSP. He failed to mention that fact. He also failed to mention that the original DCCSP was approved unanimously by the same Planning Commission in 2014. He also failed to state that the DCCSP was not voted down by the council in 2014 but rather postponed to a date uncertain, which means that it can be brought back at any time at the whim of the Mayor and/or City Manager.
Mr. Bennett continues to state that the DCCSP has been dead and buried for 2 years. This time he said it at the Republican Women’s Federated City Council Candidate Forum on Saturday, October 1, 2016.
Your campaign sign reads in part that you have integrity. Bulletin to Larry Bennett; but in my opinion you can’t claim integrity when you repeatedly make statements that misrepresent the facts. Once again I say shame on you Larry Bennett for trying to fool the public by repeating that misleading statement.
The only thing I hope that is dead and buried is the candidacy of Larry Bennett for Fullerton City Council. We should never reward politicians for their lack of candor with the voting public.

…I think it’s pretty telling when the Fullerton Observer is reporting that Larry Bennett is receiving $6,000.00 from Jennifer Fitzgerald’ campaign war chest of OVER $120,000.00!!!!!!!!!
Even more telling is when he won’t disclose to the Fullerton Observer reporter who his largest contributor is!!!!!!!!
“Candidate Larry Bennett has raised
the second highest amount at $36,419
almost exclusively from Fullerton individuals
with contributions of $100 to $1000.
He also has $5,166 in independent expenditures
from the Fullerton Firefighters
Union PAC, and $5,885 from the
Fullerton Police Union PAC; $6,899 in
contributions made by Landslide
Communications on behalf of his committee
and nonmonetary contributions of
$1,064. His largest outside contributors
include the California Apartment
Association PAC and OC Automobile
Association PAC with $1,000 each and
Scott Lansberg with a $1,500 contribution.
Fitzgerald for City Council contributed
$6,000. At his Observer interview
he chose not to name his largest contributors.
