PLANNING COMMISSION PUTS COLLEGE TOWN SPECIFIC PLAN ON HOLD WHEN THE CITY’S TRIAL BALLON GETS SHOT DOWN BY THE PEOPLE OF FULLERTON. By Barry Levinson

It is here where you will get the unvarnished truth, a unique and fresh perspective on the current status of College Town.

Let me just say this for starters.  The plan deserved to be voted down, not just put on a temporary hold. The hungry beast (the city government) still wants to feed at the trough of taxpayer monies. It is our job to stop them.

I was very proud of my fellow citizens Wednesday night at the Planning Committee Meeting.  All of you who spoke did a fantastic job. You may not realize it, but collectively we have the ability to greatly impact the decision making of our city leaders. It is only when we use that collective voice that we can force our city leaders to listen to us. The people have common sense and know instinctively when their city government is blowing smoke in their faces!

The display of arrogance of those committee members who spoke ill of some of the people at city hall was shameful. These citizens came to speak at this very important committee meeting to address not only the committee members but also the in-house audience and those watching on TV.  If a speaker chooses to momentarily turn his or her head to the audience, you as committee members should not chastise the speaker.  It is those people of Fullerton who deserve the accolades and great respect for taking the time out of their very busy schedules to speak before you.  They do not earn a $75 dollar stipend for attending the meeting like the committee members.  The bogus claim by Committee Member Ma’Ayn Johnson that there was public intimidation and harassment from some of the audience was a failed attempt to put the public on the defensive.  It was both not true and only made Ms. Johnson look self-important, pompous and small.  It is the committee who should be so embarrassed that they reduced the public comments to only 2 minutes.  That action demonstrates a lack of respect shown by the committee to the public and they should apologize to us.  Over and over again the chairperson interrupted public speaker time and time again.

The majority of the committee heard from the public who except for very few who had a connection to the project were 100% against it.

The committee members said it was important to continue to work on the project because of its importance but then stated that almost all major portions of the project were very flawed.  They said the traffic, congestion, pedestrian safety and the partial closure of Nutwood were all problems.  Some said that the adjoining colleges have not been good neighbors, especially as it pertains to the parking problems they cause to the surrounding residential neighborhoods that has exited over the last 20 years or more.  They said that some intersections that would still be graded an F after the mitigation efforts were done were a problem.  But don’t worry folks, they will probably remove the closure of Nutwood from the plan, maybe add a roundabout and then claim success in 3, 6 or 9 months from now and then salivate as the $40 million in fees starts arriving at city hall.  What a total farce?

This plan should be scrapped for all of the above.  Oh I did not mention the air quality concerns with the addition of thousands of cars was also mentioned as a problem.

SIMPLY STATED…IT IS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.  FOR STARTERS AT $11,700 PER RESIDENTIAL UNIT, THE PARK DWELLING FEE WILL GENERATE ALMOST 40 MILLION DOLLARS TO THE CITY ALONE.

It is clear that the city desperately needs to make up for the large budget deficits that already exists ($2.8 million) and which they have recently increased by millions of dollars in the form of large city employee raises especially the 6%  next year raises for police and fire and the authorization of 5 new police officers.  All these moves are done without a confirmed source of where those millions of dollars are going to come from.  The city council and our city manager are guilty of abandoning their fiduciary responsibilities to the citizens of Fullerton.  It is really that simple.

So we have exposed a simple truth.  The College Town project is a terrible idea that has no community support but is being pushed hard by the city because the CITY COUNCIL WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CITY MANAGER CONTINUE TO SPEND MONEY ON THEMSELVES WE DO NOT HAVE!!

They state the parking, safety, congestion, air quality and the closure of Nutwood for thru traffic are all problems with the plan but at the end of the day the majority said they think the plan in theory is a Great Idea.

I will continue to shine a very bright light on the machinations of our city government. They far too often represent the special interests over the needs and wants of Fullertonians.

I report, you decide.

LOL I came to read this and thought to myself I wonder when the police and old news will be brought up. It happened right away. Way to keep on the same track of old incidents and old news. Keep up the good work Fullerton Police Department. As long as they are talking about old news, and old officers, you are doing your job to perfection.

In case you hadn’t noticed Fullerton’s Conscience’s post, I think “cowardly” and “liars” would certainly be applicable to the men and women of the Fullerton Police Department who have stood by in silence.

      Silence is sometimes violence.

5.9 million given to Ron Thomas at 8am on Wednesday before the Thanksgiving Day at a meeting called for about 24 hours earlier. Could have been disclosed the very next week at the next regular council meeting but the Council likes to deal with the dirty corrupt and illegal acts of our FPD under cover at 8 am.

Dan Hughes totally out of control interrupts Barry Levinson during public comments screaming liar.

Dan Hughes then admits in late 2014 that he could hate Mr. Levinson at council but that he was totally objective in taking the complete lead in his so-called investigation where the alleged victim at council states that there was no crime. ” I can’t remember if he ever touched me’.

Yes Dan you are doing such a great job. You have shown you cannot control your out of control temper (remember when he cursed at a citizen, Samara Mohagen at council for asking him a question) and that you can be completely biased against one citizen and then purposely put yourself front and center into that bogus investigation. Two months after the alleged incident, the main piece of evidence which completely cleared Mr. Levinson, the city’s video of the city hall lobby was still mysteriously not reviewed by police and not presented to the public after the so-called investigation was completed and the DA ruled that the FPD did not provide evidence to proceed.

Dan did the exact same thing with regard to AJ Redkey when he sent 6 officers to arrest him on non-violent misdemeanor charge of not dispersing when asked. He only even supposedly was aware of the so-called crime by ordering his team to review the tape of the Kelly Thomas protest a month or two after the fact. Vindictive, vindictive, vindictive. For an understaffed department you sure waste a whole that of time, manpower and money on your vendettas’ Dan.

I hate to disagree with RI, but our Police Chief continually shows his bias, out of control temper, his vindictiveness and his total lack of integrity. The only old news on this website is Reality Is himself and the fact that we have proven time and again that Dan Hughes is a loose cannon who when faced with a choice to conduct a fair and objective investigation or to throw himself front and center and conduct a totally bogus investigation, he gladly and very eagerly chooses the latter.

I agree. If I was Chief of Police I would hate Barry too. You want him to act like he likes Barry? Come on. Barry was guilty of the crime that Dan accused him off. Barry just got off due to the DA not filing the case. The DA doesn’t file cases on a daily basis. It’s part of the process. It doesn’t mean the suspect is not guilty. So Dan has been in the upper ranks of Fullerton PD for over 10 years now and you have 2-3 instances of him getting upset and you think that’s bad? Come on. Like I said. As long as you people can only bring up things from years ago, and minimal things at that, the police and Chief are doing a great job. Carry on. He’s the furthest thing from a loose cannon and your boy Bruce and the others confirmed him as Chief of Police after the Kelly incident. That should tell you something. And yes, I would expect him to hate Barry and Tony B and the others that said so many bad, false, made up things about the PD.

I agree with RI most of the time. Most of the issues Levinson brings up are old news. The city is running just fine. The road improvements are being made, we are seeing development, more businesses opening, downtown is vibrant and yet he and Imbriano only look at the glass half empty all the time.

Your reality is truly all made up in your head isn’t it?

    • #7 by Reality Is.... on February 16, 2016 - 9:01 pm

What part isn’t Reality? I wait for current events with the PD and the best you can come up with current is that you are mad because Danny hates Barry and made because the DA didn’t file on Barry so you assume he’s innocent? That’s it? Really? Come on. Come up with some more factual evidence to support your claims that the Fullerton PD is rampant with corruption in the year 2016.

RI as both a coward and a liar, you are a modern day poster boy for Revelation 21:8:

“But the COWARDLY, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and ALL LIARS—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”

    • #9 by Reality Is.... on February 16, 2016 - 9:02 pm

I never lie. Ever. Again, name calling is the best you can come up with just because Danny hates Barry? Really?

    • #10 by Fullerton Lover on February 17, 2016 - 6:19 am

Of course not. In your mind you never lie. It’s the rest of us that are liars.

    • #11 by Reality Is..... on February 17, 2016 - 9:44 am

Not sure I or anyone said you guys lie. You have your own dreams of reality. It’s that simple. You think that the Kelly incident, of which they were all found not guilty, happened today and you think that the sex detective got multiple BJ’s from chicks today. You can’t come up with anything for today so you dream that today was yesterday. I used to blame this type of thought process on excessive weed smoking, Tony Bushala, so not sure what your excuse is.

What do you think of Danny hiring another Thayer into the Fullerton Police Department?

p.s. note that the young man that was roughed up in this incident was my neighbor’s son.

      Is that current enough bucko?

Just in case you were uncertain what nepotism is, I’ve enclosed a link to a place where you’ll find the definition.

So because a family member is a police officer or fireman and is accused of wrong doing, that should make all other family members be excluded from consideration? Come on. No wonder you are leading a city in this country. You know how many people in this country have relatives that are complete losers? Probably even yourself!

P.S. This so called victim in this incident made it all up and he’s a dirt bag criminal.

      Love,

      DannyBoy

Thanks for posting that link though. I used to love F’ing with Tony Bushala and all his boys. As you can see, I was all over FFFF on that post and just about every other post. I was responsible for over 75% of the posts on FFFF for awhile there. If you look closely you will see that I predicted their demise to perfection as well. I predicted that Bushala would end up in a hole and never heard from again, along with being sued for defamation and his web page shut down. Happened. I said Travis would open his mouth once and be sent packing right away. Happened. I said Bruce would take Tony’s money to be bought onto the council on the blood from Kelly’s back, and then tell Tony B to F off. Happened. Amazing what Reality Is isn’t it?

      Love,

      Reality Is 🙂

To the administrator of this website. I believe the vast majority of your readership both appreciate and encourage different opinions being expressed here.

What we do not appreciate is the cursing by a few, including Reality Is. I do not want to see any more disgusting 4 letter words stated here going forward. People like Reality Is belongs in the gutter not online.
I for one have had enough of his bad language.

I did notice a change in title making someone assistant City Manager this year. Joe Feliz must be handing the reigns over to his hand picked successor soon huh?
