What keeps the roads busted up, the high rises popping up, the red ink from drying, the pension debt going into orbit and the average taxpayer home on council meeting nights? Is it the sleeping gas of the charlatans. Sure paint a school, give ’em a parade, bamboozle em with some fuzzy math, throw in a fireworks show and a movie night with a twinkle in their eyes and the rest is history.
Fullerton’s status quo is brought to you by Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom tonight so as we all enter the Outer Limits and the Twilight Zone, do not attempt to adjust your screen, as we control the horizontal, we control the vertical, and we control the brightness and we control all of you while you all remain asleep in the darkness.
ONLY YOU CONTROL THE LEVER IN THAT VOTING BOOTH OR YOUR ENTRY AT THE BALLOT BOX IN NOVEMBER.
They can blur the lines now but the lights are coming on, the jig is up, and change is in the air. Their phony smiles only have another 11 months to go. If these folks really loved Fullerton instead of the Fullerton city employees and the developers, you wouldn’t have the control arms busting off of the front ends of your cars, and we wouldn’t have the every other Tuesday night backroom deals with the lawsuits backing up like cargo ships in the port during a longshoreman’s strike out of Long Beach.
Yes they are all peas in a pod and cut from the same cloth where they all stand for big brother, big government, big government programs, big government tax and spend policies, big development, and not for you-the taxpayers and the residents.

They may sport Love Fullerton tee-shirts but based on the voting records of Fitzgerald, Flory and Chaffee including the 6% raises they approved in the current round of city employee contracts, they must hate the city taxpayers. I was at those meetings and I can’t remember one time that any of those three council members even mentioned the taxpayers or the negative impact these agreements will have on our already 2.8 million dollar deficits over the next two years. I have stated for the last 5 years that the only way to solve our financial problems is to lower the percentage of our General Fund that goes exclusively to salaries and benefits down from 80%. (Remember that when Detroit filed for bankruptcy a few years ago, its’ general fund spent 79% for salaries and benefits.) Yet they have ignored my warnings and concerns, year after year after year. The Federal Reserve has not wanted to raise the federal funds rate from 0% so far this year in part because inflation has been running way below their target of 2%. Yet they are voting to give Fullerton employees 6% raises next year. Probably less than 100 city employees are also residents of Fullerton and they get the total support of those 3 council members while the other 140,000 residents get to read their “I Love Fullerton” tee-shirts. It certainly sounds to me that the Fullerton taxpayers are getting the short end of the deal as usual.

6% in one year? Or 2% a year? I have no issue with 2% raises for employees around the country each year. Simple cola raise.
