What The Kelly Thomas Ordeal Teaches Us About Our City Leaders, Especially Jan Flory, Jennifer Fitzgerald, Doug Chaffee, Joe Felz and Dan Hughes

Exactly 1,603 days after the savage beating death of a 135- pound “innocent man” (Police Chief Dan Hughes so proclaimed Kelly Thomas posthumously at a council meeting about a year or so latter), the tragic tale of Kelly Thomas comes to a dramatic close.

Although, I am very disappointed that Mr. Thomas chose to accept the City of Fullerton’s large offer of 4.9 million dollars, instead of going through an open civil trial, it should not be the focus of our thoughts and concerns.

Let’s just review that various costs involved in the Kelly Thomas savage beating death has cost the Fullerton public.

Payout to Mrs. Kathy Thomas                              $1,000,000

Payout to Mr. Ron Thomas                                   $4,900,000

Estimated legal related fees                              $500,000

Potential estimated settlements with

fired officers who are attempting to get

their jobs back.

(We shall have to wait

and see on this one.)                                       $5,000,000

—————

Total cost to pay off victims for the FPD’s

bad acts:                                                        $11,400,000

The impact this has for the Fullerton

Public. ………………………………… A lasting mistrust of the FPD

Here is the way to start the healing.

Removing Dan Hughes and Joe Felz from

Fullerton city government forever. ……………  Priceless!!

Dan Hughes-FPD chief

It is ironic that the settlement approval came at a hastily called for “Special” City Council meeting for 8 AM the morning before the Thanksgiving Day Holiday.  Any fool knows that the timing of this meeting was carefully selected by a majority of our city council along with City Manager Joe Felz.

Joe Felz Fullerton city manager

It was probably the same majority who voted for the $4.9 million settlement, i.e. Fitzgerald, Flory and Chaffee.  So the next time Council members Flory, Fitzgerald and Chaffee have the audacity to talk about the openness and transparency of city government, I hope a large segment of the council audience will have the courage to remind them of this 8 AM council meeting.

Now that Police Chief Dan Hughes does not have to worry about testifying under oath before the civil jury (and the world) and answer some very embarrassing, tough and even a few unanswerable questions, he can now sit back and wait for his approximately 200K pension to arrive just over the horizon.  It is good to be the king, which is what many of the top public servants truly are these days.  It is we the people who get incredibly little consideration from all these so-called civil servants and elected officials.  They are supposed to be looking out for the citizens of Fullerton wellbeing in their fiduciary roles.  They make multi-million dollar decisions such as with the passage of several 4-year union contracts and in their public council deliberations did not even mention the word “taxpayer”.  Their actions certainly show no empathy or concern for those that pay the city’s bills.  Council member Fitzgerald as a self-described Republican, deserves the loudest shout-out for her apparent lack of concern for the financial wellbeing of the city and taxpayer.

But I want to leave the readers with a positive message.  We the people of Fullerton can look forward to a better-run city government.  All we have to do is vote out Ms. Flory and Ms. Fitzgerald next year and vote for people such as Joe Imbriano.

My role going forward will be to do whatever will do the most good for our city.  I look forward to continue speaking out whenever our city leadership goes astray or fails in their responsibilities to you the good citizens of Fullerton.

P.S.  The city of Fullerton government and its services are in very bad shape.  Therefore, we must reject politics as usual.    Too many elected officials either work against the people or try to straddle the fence and in so doing accomplish little.  Well I am here to tell all of them, to either get with the people 100% or get out of the way for a change is coming.

I report, you decide.

Joe your delusional irrational beliefs are exactly why you have no place in public service, which is why you and Barry will never be elected. If you are elected God help the citizens of Fulllerton.

“The truth is Kelly was murdered and you and your ilk circle the wagons for the thugs that pulled it off, rigged the trial and greased the skids for the payouts. The city’s infrastructure and finances are a joke. Your solution, circle the wagons and dose the public with your trite fluff and happy parties, warped and corrupt media outlets like the Register and The Observer, attempt to discredit and incarcerate the activists while you protect those involved in raping the taxpayers as Flory, Fitzgerald and Chaffee deficit spend and pass benefit and pay increases based on fraudulent accounting, ram cell towers through next to schools and homes and sit poised at any moment to sell us out the the developers with the DCCSP’s 8 story buildings everywhere while the vaccines and the wireless get jammed into our kids bloodstreams and classrooms while you all get drunk and OD on cholesterol. Sad group of morally bankrupt pill popping cowards you belong to. ”

THESE ARE FACTS NOT IRRATIONAL BELIEFS AND PRECISELY WHY I AM RUNNING FOR OFFICE.

Joe. You clearly don’t like facts and pay no attention to facts. You live in your own little delusional world. Do you know Tony Bushala? I swear you might be his clone. go to the FFFF web page and look up some of his comments during the Kelly era. You guys said the exact same things. He bought off the council and got his people in there on the dead back of Kelly Thomas. Then Travis spoke just like you speak, and was run out of town so fast he didn’t know what hit him. The people don’t want people like you and Travis and Tony and Barry. They want people that think outside the box, and do what is best for the people, not what is best for their personal agendas and vendettas. The justice system spoke and it worked. You have to accept that or you will pay out millions to cops. Ciccy and Ramos got paid out. They got millions. That’s what happens when politics over runs logic and fact. POBAR protects cops from people like you. Now go start digging and see if you can find out what the payouts and deals were that the city made with Ciccy and Ramos. Start now. 🙂

And the first and second amendments protect us from people like you. Tell lies long enough and people will believe them. Maybe before we came along RI. But it is after all going to be up to the voters. Gonna be interesting for sure. I guess they can keep canceling the council meetings until November and tear down all my signs but the more light you put on me the more people will hit the site, google me and either wake up or join you and put more light on me so more people will hit the site and google me. There are only and handful of city workers that actually live in Fullerton. The other 139,563 are gonna be told the truth. You ever hack up or cut back a wild grape vine or a ficus tree? Do you know what happens? It grows back bigger and stronger than ever before with deeper roots, more branches and it keeps getting tougher to get rid of.

Good luck and keep dreaming my friend. You will prove my point after the election. Your first political death is being anti public safety. No one has ever won an election ever being anti public safety. People have won with varying ideas but no one has ever won in the USA being anti public safety. Which you and Barry are. I can guarantee you will not be elevated with that stance and your agenda. Good luck.

You, Reality Is, “doth protest too much.”

      “Anti Public Safety”

      Now that’s a true oxymoron!

Very true. Death sentence too. Just ask Tony and Travis. Bruce came around in the end and survived.
