The more things change the more they stay the same for those comprising an electorate that is not paying attention. Believe me they get by with a little help from their friends.
The typical MO for political operatives here in Fullerton is to simply muddy the waters.
They for the most, put on a thin conservative political veneer, parse words, pat each other on the back, stand for what appears to be something that actually translates into nothing, say what amounts to nothing, do what amounts to nothing, and then
make it possible for people like this come out of nowhere, take the public by surprise and stick it to the residents and taxpayers.
Introducing Larry Bennett who was the head of the failed anti recall campaign a few years back.
Well he is resurfacing for some more phony conservative acting classes at Fullerton City Hall. Just one problem, his reputation as an establishment union hack precedes him every step of the way. As a refresher, he was the one who presided over the cabal a few years back that tried to cling to power as the residents threw the three stooges that for decades, ran Fullerton into the ground out on their asses.
Well like usual he failed.
FINE COMMUNITY SERVANTS?
Larry Bennett was and is a tool of the FPD. At the time, Larry Bennett was protecting an out of control department that had multiple dead bodies on its hands.
Dean Gochenour died while in custody at the house of horrors-Fullerton Jail- Dean was the man who was found dead in his cell at the Fullerton jail and the officer who was in charge at the time, decided to smash his digitally activated recorder (DAR) rather than turn it over to the OC District Attorneys office.
Then there was Kelly Thomas
Then of course comes Larry Bennett to the rescue. Larry Bennett’s laundry list of campaign donors is stacked to the hilt with those who who also supported the regime that for decades allowed the culture of corruption in the Fullerton Police department to flourish, the crony capitalist deals with the redevelopment scammers and the developers to go down hard and fast, and the bloated salaries and pension scams to fly at mach 2 that have left this town riddled with busted up roads everywhere, ridiculous gridlock with more high density housing on the way and no money left for anything other than The Fullerton Police departments murder and sexual assault lawsuits, and more raises and benefits for the police, fire and city workers that for the most part don’t even live here in Fullerton.
A FEW YEARS BACK, LARRY BENNETT WAS TEAMED BY FULLERTON POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION WITH FULL BLOWN ESTABLISHMENT LIBERAL DEMOCRAT UNION HACK DOUG CHAFFEE.
AND IF BENNETT WAS OFFENDED BY THIS PAIRING BY THE FPOA UNION TEAM ASSIGNMENT MARRYING THESE TWO AT THE HIPS BY THE FPOA, DO YOU THINK HE WOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT IT? HE SAID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DISTANCE HIMSELF FROM CHAFFEE WHICH HE DID NO SUCH THING.
BENNETT IS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE HIP OF FULLERTON’S QUEEN SHEBA OF CRONY CAPITALISM, QUEEN OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST, PRINGLE OPERATIVE, TAX AND SPEND, HIGH RISE DEVELOPMENT PUSHER, DEMOCRAT IN REPUBLICAN CLOTHING, TWIN VOTING RECORDS WITH LIBERAL DEMOCRATS JAN FLORY AND DOUG CHAFFEE, RINO ESTABLISHMENT HACK JENNIFER FITZGERALD
LARRY TAKES WHAT HE CAN GET
THESE THREE ARE THE APPLE OF BENNETTS EYE=THE OLD GUARD THAT RAN FULLERTON INTO THE GROUND
LARRY BENNETT HAS BEEN AND IS CONTINUED TO BE CONNECTED TO AND FINANCED BY ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE.
WHAT IS THE MOST OBSCENE OF ALL OF HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS IS THAT LARRY BENNETT DEFENDED THE INDEFENSIBLE -HIS IDEA OF PROTECTING FULLERTON WAS PROTECTING THE MURDERERS OF KELLY THOMAS AND THE CULTURE OF CORRUPTION IN THE FPD. HE TOOK SOME SERIOUS CASH FROM THE FPOA IN 2014
http://docs.cityoffullerton.com/weblink/DocView.aspx?dbid=1&id=554883&page=1&cr=1
HE ACTUALLY WORKED AGAINST THE MAJORITY OF FULLERTON RESIDENTS WHO HAD ENOUGH OF THE OLD GUARD THAT GAVE US THE FINANCIAL CLIFF AND THE OUT OF CONTROL POLICE DEPARTMENT.
LARRY BENNETT EVEN GOES ALONG WITH THE FAILED FRAMING OF BARRY LEVINSON BY DAN HUGHES AND YET DEFENDS THE BRUTAL MURDERERS OF KELLY THOMAS.
IS THIS THE TYPE OF LEADER YOU WANT, SOMEONE WHO COMES TO FALSE CONCLUSIONS WITHOUT DEMANDING THE EVIDENCE? THE CITY CAMERAS IN THE LOBBY SHOWED THAT NO SUCH EVENT EVER TOOK PLACE. IS THIS THE LEADERSHIP YOU WANT-ACTING WITHOUT ALL THE FACTS?
IS HE JUST ANOTHER ESTABLISHMENT HACK GOING ALONG WITH THE ESTABLISHMENT CROWD? LOOK AT HIS FACEBOOK POST FROM 2014. IT SHOWS JUST HOW COORDINATED THIS FRAMING WAS AND LARRY BENNETT WAS CONDONING IT WITHOUT EVER HAVING SEEN THE VIDEO THAT SHOWS NOTHING HAPPENED.
Larry Bennett for Fullerton City Council 2016
This is a failure of leadership when we excuse this behavior. Barry Levinson should have been booted from the commission. It’s not a tough call. It’s not a close call. We deserve better from our commissioners and we certainly deserve better from our councilmen. Do the right thing.
http://www.ocregister.com/…/council-639306-levinson-city.ht…
A City Council motion to oust a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, accused of simple assault of an AT&T employee after an August council meeting, failed late Tuesday.
LARRY BENNETT’S GOOD FRIEND PAT MCKINLEY-“I HIRED THEM ALL” –
LARRY BENNETT WANTS YOU TO THINK HE IS TOUGH ON THE ISSUES.
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS HIS ALTER EGO IS STILL FOLLOWING MR. PROTECT FULLERTON RECALL NO AROUND. THIS IS HOW LOW MR STATUS QUO PHONY CONSERVATIVE ESTABLISHMENT HACK LARRY BENNETT WILL GO TO WIN AN ELECTION. WHAT A LOW LIFE BENNETT REALLY IS. THIS IS THE CRAP HIS CABAL TURNED OUT WHILE HE WAS AT THE HELM TRYING TO DEFEND THE KILLER COPS AND THE THREE HACKS ON THE COUNCIL THAT WERE RUNNING FULLERTON INTO THE GROUND.
LARRY BENNETT RAN THE ANTI RECALL CAMPAIGN AND MOST LIKELY HAS TO HAVE APPROVED THIS MESSAGE BELOW WHICH IS TOTALLY WITHOUT ANY CLASS OR DIGNITY. SO DOES THAT MEAN MR BENNETT HAS NO CLASS OR DIGNITY? CERTAINLY IS NOT HE PORTRAYS HIMSELF IN PUBLIC.
I DIDN’T KNOW PROMOTING THIS TYPE OF SOFT PORN WAS PART OF THE REPUBLICAN PLATFORM LARRY?
I DIDN’T KNOW DEFENDING SNUFF FILM PRODUCTION WAS PART OF THE REPUBLICAN PLATFORM LARRY.
LARRY BENNETT ACTS AS IF HE IS SOME FISCAL CONSERVATIVE WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS AND OUR QUALITY OF LIFE. LARRY HAS CLEARLY SHOWN THAT HE HAD NO REGARD FOR THOSE RIGHTS AS THEY RELATED TO OR THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF KELLY THOMAS, DEAN GOCHENOUR, OR ANY OF THE REST OF THOSE WHO WERE FRAMED, MAIMED, MURDERED, MOLESTED, HARRASSED , SHAKEN DOWN, OR THREATENED BY THE FPD.
HE ACTS AS IF HE IS CONCERNED WITH DEVELOPMENT IN FULLERTON WHEN IN REALITY, THE ONLY DEVELOPMENTS HE IS REALLY CONCERNED WITH ARE THOSE THAT INVOLVE MAKING SURE THE NEW BOSS REMAINS THE SAME AS THE OLD BOSS. WE ALL KNOW THAT SONG FOLKS.
THERE IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND LARRY BENNETT IS, HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE NOTHING MORE THAN-
Foolerton’s Phony Conservative Establishment Big Government Union Hack
NOT ONE PEEP OUT OF BENNETT FOR YEARS AT THE COUNCIL MEETINGS AND NOW HE IS BEING ROLLED OUT LIKE A CIRCUS CLOWN ONCE AGAIN TO TRY TO SIPHON VOTES AWAY FROM THE TRUE REFORM CANDIDATES. IT DIDN’T WORK BEFORE AND IT WON’T WORK NOW BECAUSE JOE IMBRIANO IS RUNNING THIS TIME AROUND. THE PARTY IS OVER AT CITY HALL.
JOE IMBRIANO 4 FULLERTON CITY COUNCIL

LOL come on. Keep dreaming. No crimes are being committed and never have been. Stop getting butt hurt because you don’t get your way. It’s not first grade anymore.

I’m sure that’s what Paul Tanaka and these six LA county deputy sheriffs kept telling themselves.
You think their butt’s gonna hurt in prison?

Not even a close comparison at all. Only thing close to that in Fullerton was the Kelly Thomas incident. But the people found all the cops not guilty and paid the cops big money to move on. They are all living productive lives again and most are still serving the City of Fullerton as they should be. The other two are collecting pensions and setting themselves up for a great retirement daily. If it was up to Joe or Barry or Travis or Tony all 10 cops would have been fired on the spot. Thank God for POBAR. Tanaka case was very political for sure and politics won in the end. Personally I think the deputies got screwed on that case. Baca and Tanaka and the other supervisors were responsible for those orders and low level deputies had no clue the politics going on between Baca and the FBI but the people felt different so we have to accept the verdict just like we have to accept the Thomas verdict.
By the way what ever happened to Tony Bushala? I figured he would pop up again with $500,000 and try to buy Joe his seat again. Where his Travis? That little punk opened his mouth one time about checkpoints and never saw daylight again. Politics is no joke. You try to be a King you become a Queen instantly.
How’s Ron Thomas’ promises coming along? LOL he promised so much when I said all along he would get his money and never be heard from again. What a coward he was. He just wanted that TV exposure. Was so obvious.
Anyways. Happy Mother’s Day. You all are some Mothers for sure.
Love,

Make it read right.
Reality Is. The poster boy for fair and equal public safety. Definitely pro public safety though. Anyone that is anti public safety like Barry and Joe and Fullerton Lover and Fullerton Resident have some serious screws loose.
I’m against proven bad and corrupt cops, but also realize it’s such the super minority that it rarely affects any police officers we ever deal with or hear about.
I’m realistic. That’s why I’m Reality Is.

Fullertonians I have said this many times that my two biggest heroes in my life were my dad and his older brother, both outstanding NYC Police Officers.
It is precisely that I have first hand knowledge of how a terrific police officer conducts himself that I hold those substandard police officers accountable.
A good police officer is someone that I respect and admire.
However, to suggest that wanting to hold bad police officers responsible for their on the job bad actions is a no brainer. Surgeons that cause needless deaths on the operating table should loose their license to be a doctor. Teachers that molest children should never be allowed to walk into a classroom again. And yes police officers who brutally beat to death an innocent man as claimed by their boss, Police Chief Dan Hughes, should never wear a police badge again.
But people like RI want all police officers whether good, bad, or criminal to be treated the same. He does not want bad officers to be held accountable for their actions and claims that people like myself who do are just anti-police.
RI could not be more wrong.
It is really that simple Fullertonians. Yes a few of you apparently did not care that a homeless man for no reason was beaten to a pulp causing fatal injuries. But as a civilized society we can’t accept that kind of brutal, vicious, out of control behavior from any police officer.
#11 by Reality Is..... on May 10, 2016 - 8:22 am
My original response was deleted Barry. However, you know full well you are anti police and hate cops. Saying your family was cops so you respect and likes cops is like saying I’m not racist because I have friends that are black. Weak.
Admit it. It’s ok to be anti cop. There are hate groups for that like Black Lives Matter and Cop Block. Be a member.
There are millions of good cops out there. To say they are all bad because of one isolated incident in Fullerton shows your true colors. Or to disrespect and hate all Fullerton cops because of one or two incidents over the last 10 years is very disrespectful and childish.
99.99999% of all contacts by cops across this country go perfectly. Each city will always have one or two cases to analyze and debate. Until we create police robots, this will never go away, even when you make Chief of Police. Humans aren’t perfect. The only perfect humans I’ve ever met were you and Joe.
Kisses.

I get it. You guys don’t like facts and when you get caught, you change the topic quick. I’m used to it.
I enjoy your banter however but sometimes it’s too easy catching you guys catering to your select audience that is easy to fool.
#14 by Fullerton Lover on May 10, 2016 - 5:37 pm
As long as there are officers beating suspects nearly to death like you’ll see in this video, I pray that there will be people like me doing everything in their power to see that it doesn’t happen again.

#15 by Reality Is..... on May 10, 2016 - 10:00 pm
Amen. Me too. Bad cops need to go. Bad cops is determined by juries and judges, not politicians. If a jury says a cop is bad, then he should be punished appropriately. I also feel that number is minuscule when the number of cops in this country and the number of daily contacts across this country is taken into consideration. Policing is not always pretty and never will be. Humans will never be perfect. With all of that considered, our police officers do an incredible job. Keep it up.
#16 by Fullerton Lover on May 11, 2016 - 10:49 am
Agreed.
In the military, both the soldier who exhibited bad conduct AND his or her reporting official would bear responsibility for their conduct, and both would receive some sort of reprimand or article 15.
Kind of like Juvenile Court where the child AND the parents are subject to punitive action.
I’m sure our friends in the school system can attest to how well that this has worked for them once they decided to prosecute the parents for their children’s truancy from school.
Accountability breeds responsibility.
p.s. I enjoy the exchanges as well and hope that at the end of the day we’re making a positive contribution to enabling both police officers and residents to gain a greater understanding of each other.
#17 by Reality Is..... on May 11, 2016 - 2:49 pm
Agree completely. I think our differences related to this are how those people or that person are termed guilty. I’m all about facts and factual evidence and adamantly against opinion, rumor, or having a small part of a story. I’m also strongly against biased media reporting. I do rely on juries big time even though I realize our system isn’t perfect. I despise politics playing a part in things, such as jobs or careers. Politics means minimal facts, which means someone getting screwed for little or no reason. So yes, supervisors are tasked with being responsible for someone’s actions but if that someone rapes someone in an isolated incident and the supervisor had no idea or no signs prior to that happening, that supervisor shouldn’t be fired and have his life ended because of it. I’m all about finding the facts, but finding the facts takes time, and activists don’t care about time and most of the time they don’t care about facts. It’s 2016 and that’s the cycle we are dealing with today.
Yes, more people need to be educated on everything going on in our government and the daily operations of our lives. Problem is a majority are too busy to care. Trump has sparked interest from people that have never paid attention to a government race in their lives. Maybe it will trickle down to the local level but I see it as the same people that are concerned with local politics will be the same people year after year, month after month. Thats why local politicians tune out those people that complain daily about what they do and say.
It’s also why I emphasize recognizing the good people do with the bad. If you complain about everything and never recognize the good people do everyday, why would they listen to anything you say ever again? I think that’s where Fullerton is at today. It’s why I tell Barry and Joe to advertise the police events, the city events, and to recognize the good this city does daily. If you always point out the bad and basically infer that all cops are bad and the police department is always bad, do you really think that anyone is going to listen to that? 99.9999% of police contacts in fullerton over the last 25 years are perfect or close to perfect. A small percent are always open to debate or investigation. A very small percent are done bad.
Anyways, I also enjoy the debates on here with everyone. I wish more people took part in blogs like this. I try to spark interest from the opposite view and side, and sometime over emphasize it just to get a reaction or get more information on the topic. Bad thing is it’s probably the small few that see this that I refer to in the daily complainers that never recognize a good thing done in this city and they are probably the same in their personal lives as well. I can’t imagine living life with such a negative attitude all the time, but I see people like that all the time.

The only thing RI has to say to those that disagree with him is that they have “serious screws loose”.
His mother must be so, so proud.
By the way using those tactics in a collegiate debate team would garner of score of ZERO.

It must have disappeared then. It was in response to Barry talking about how he disrespects all police because he focuses on one incident. And by having cops in the family means nothing. He hates cops. Period.

The fact that you asked really shows your intelligence. He’s not one of them but you know how many sworn deputies they have? And how many sworn arrests a year? Even though this was a non sworn civilian employee and this had nothing to do with his employment. Not surprising coming from a cop hater like you.
#24 by Fullerton Lover on May 10, 2016 - 8:35 am
100% sure the article said that he was employed by the L.A.S.D., and was responsible for training deputies.

Yes he was a non sworn employee who did work for the Sheriff’s department. Do you not expect something like this once every few years out of some 25,000 employees? I was simply saying what do you expect to be reality? Or are you perfect?

You have to only wonder how long it’ll be before Travis Kiger, Bruce Whitaker, and Chris Norby decide to file one of these type of lawsuits against the Fullerton Police Officers Association who were represented by the same law firm as Costa Mesa police union employed.
Looks like the Judge is allowing the Costa Mesa City Councilmen and even one of their spouse to suit the tar out of these fools.
Wonder how much that one is going to cost the taxpayers to defend?
You think that maybe the millions that they residents will have to pay to defend these morons couldn’t have been better spent on a library or a park for the children?

Won’t happen unless something else is uncovered during discovery that would have their names on it. This was solely because the Councilperson was pulled over and it was all figured out.
Dammniers firm was making millions and millions a year for many years. He was the best in the business for many years. Problem is that the threat of lawsuits against everyone and trying to push everyone around finally got old so no one cared. They pushed cops around in the end and that is never a good idea. They pushed and threatened cops and they died that day quickly. Just like Travis and Tony and others. Push cops or express your outright hate for cops, I.e. Barry and Joe, you lose your chance at anything and die a quick death. It’s not that hard to understand.
Where do you see tax payer money being used in this case? It’s a lawsuit by a person against people and a law firm and the police union?
In the end this law firm and lawyer are long gone and no money to get anyways but I commend this firm in the 90’s and 2000’s for getting fair pay and benefits for most police associations across California. I’m glad they are gone now though. Their style was worn out. Now it’s all about working with politicians and city leaders to keep fair pay and benefits for Police across California, as was recently done minimally in Fullerton, as the last 10 years indicate and prove.
Also, Travis killed himself. He rode in on Kelly’s blood and Tony’s money. He opened his mouth and hate for cops and was gone instantly. Political suicide. Take note Joe and Barry.

And you have run out of years old Fullerton incidents so now you are going to LA Sheriff’s? Lol and you want Orange County Sheriffs right? Lol
#29 by Fullerton Lover on May 10, 2016 - 8:42 am
I’ll never run out of incidents to report coming out of Fullerton, because half the officers currently working in Fullerton are transfers from L.A.S.D.
Remember your black hatted friend Pat McKinley boasting to the world after the Kelly Thomas murder that he “hired them all.”
#30 by Reality Is... on May 10, 2016 - 2:12 pm
You are clueless. Half of Fullerton’s sworn came from LA County Sheriffs Department? Lol you are hilarious. You guys make more things up and I catch you on everyone of them.
You know where McKinley came from right? Lol
Hint: same place that Cicinelli is collection his pension from. Well one of them. He now has a Fullerton settlement and pension also.
🙂

Here’s one of your buddy’s Pat McKinley’s highlight films from his time as an officer in Los Angeles.

And as we saw with one of his boys that followed him over from Los Angeles, Kelly Thomas murder defendant, Jay Ciccinelli, the proverbial apple never falls too far from the tree.

And there are many many great cops working for and that have worked for LASD and LAPD. Many.
If you didn’t know it cops will always do wrong and always get arrested and always handle calls opposite of how you would. Just in case you didn’t realize it yet. Cops aren’t perfect like you.
🙂

Many huh?
The jurors signaled clearly that they did not believe the defense, returning the guilty verdicts after only 90 minutes of deliberation.
Brunsting and Branum each face up to 40 years in federal prison when they are sentenced Aug. 22, according to the U.S. attorney’s office. Brunsting is expected to face trial later this year on additional civil rights charges in connection with another force incident at Twin Towers in August 2009.
Federal authorities have now convicted 21 current or former sheriff’s officials after a wide-ranging FBI investigation into corruption and abuse in the county jails.

Does that surprise you? So 21 in 10 years out of 25,000 employees? Makes sense. Probably matches the same percent in Fullerton
