And the Race for Fullerton City Council begins:
I report, you decide.
Well the field of candidates is shaping up for the Fullerton City
Council race. Seven have filed papers and assuming they all have
the necessary valid signatures they will be as follows:
Bill Chaffee, (Doug Chaffee’s younger brother)
Jane Rands, Green Party
Doug Chaffee, Democrat
Greg Sebourn, Republican
Rick Alvarez, Republican
Larry Bennett, Republican
Sean Paden, Republican
During the course of this campaign I will be speaking on the issues
and noting each candidates strengths and weaknesses. I will report
on what they have said and what they have done that may or may
not jive with their campaign rhetoric. It is so important that I point out
any candidate’s inconsistencies. I believe this will help the voters
determine who is trustworthy and who may not be as trustworthy.
- As I have said many times there are certain characteristics that I
- believe are essential to have for any candidate that I want to support
- wholeheartedly. Those characteristics are the following:
- 1. Honesty and integrity,
- 2. Knowledge, intelligence and wisdom,
- 3. Common Sense and
- 4. Guts and strength of character and convictions
- I believe it should be rather self-evident why all the above
- characteristics are important for the good candidate to possess. But
- if I had to name just one reason, it would be that a candidate that
- possesses all of the above characteristics I believe can be counted
- on to make informed, impartial decisions that are in the best interests
- of the citizens of Fullerton. This is something that a majority of our council does not consistently do now in my opinion.
- A candidate for instance could have the first three characteristics and
- still not be able to carry forth their principles without guts.
- So I will be informing all of you what positions each candidate has on
- all key issues facing Fullerton. I will also be telling you whether based
- on the candidates previous words and actions that we can reasonably
- count on them keeping their campaign promises.
Of course I will be stating what positions I believe are best for our city as well.

Au contraire mon frere. As I said earlier, with the city of Fullerton being sued by Kitty Jaramillo, the ” at large ” style of elections that have allowed for the perpetual public employee politicians to enjoy a majority on the city council, as well as on the FJUSD and FSD, will soon be null and void as no city council or school board in the state has EVER successfully challenged one of these lawsuits in the 12 years that these have been brought before the courts.
Now politicians will have to earn your vote instead of buying it through glossy fliers put out by politicians and paid for by the same public employees who look at us with contempt when asked to listen to the same people who pay their salaries.

Mr. Powell, for the sake of us all, let us hope that you are correct. The game in Fullerton has been played for far too long by the same team. The closest we had ever come to routing them was when Mr. Bushala got involved. Sadly enough however, change was extremely short lived with Mr. Kiger’s defeat to Ms. Flory.
Today, as we speak, we are worse off than before with the current majority and the lifetime contracts for Dan Hughes and Joe Felz with our one shot at real transparent labor negotiations down the drain.

This is exactly why I have been lobbying non-stop for the past six months, through the Register and the Observer and to any Fullerton blog or resident that would listen to me. I honestly am convinced, and can easily prove, how the “at large” system of voting is definitely rigged and cannot be overcome through the electorate, and will instead have to be remedied through the courts.
The really good news is that the Supreme Court recently weighed in on the case in Palmdale, and once again the Supreme Court has upheld each and every challenge to the voting rights act/law calling for district elections to stand, each and every time that any city in California has challenged it in court.
I’m hoping that the City Council will not waste $3.5 of the taxpayer’s money to attempt challenging the district elections in court, and will instead see the wisdom of electing city councilman from the district in which they live, and will agree to divy up the residents into 5 districts of 35,000 residents a piece, BEFORE the next election.

Maybe we can finally throw these hacks out on their asses where they belong, can Felz and Hughes, get Chaffee to move to Cuba, get Flory back to work on the set of divorce court , and that Pringle hack Fitzgerald to finally do something about that god awful hairdo of hers.
