My Issues
Coming soon! For now, here’s my ballot statement. You’ll see this in your Voter Guide. Have a question on a particular issue? Contact me at campaign@padenforfullerton.com.
We spend too much on projects we can’t afford and we’re afraid to make tough choices. That’s no way to run a city.
Our roads are the worst in Orange County, and salary and pensions for City workers remain unsustainable. Our water fees have increased three times in the last year while our water lines burst from neglect. We’ve made no progress in reducing our unfunded pension liabilities. The current Council majority recently made things worse by voting to add to the Transportation Plan an absurd $140,000,000 trolley boondoggle.
Reform can be achieved in Fullerton, but we need a Council that is not afraid to take on the status quo, move future retirement obligations to 401k-style plans, better negotiate with City employees, competitively bid for City contracts, and ensure independent oversight of our Police Department.
I know real reform requires more than empty slogans. It requires a willingness to put voters’ needs ahead of our bureaucracy and make our City work for us, not the other way around. I have served on the Planning Commission and the Design Review Committee and am the right candidate for this challenge.
I would be honored to earn your vote.
